Pole Vault & Speed Camp @ Logan High School

Post by PattyMayonnaise »

Logan High School will be having a Pole Vault Camp and Speed Camp for all interested athletes, boys and girls, going into grades 7-12.

Both Camps will take place June 20-23 from 9:00am-12:00pm.

The first hour of each camp will take place in a classroom setting, where the athletes will learn about specific skills.
The last two hours will be spent on the track, concentrating on the skill covered in the classroom.

The speed camp will be more about instruction and demonstrating drills and skills the athletes can use ON THEIR OWN to become better sprinters. The camp will be about the 100 meters down. By no means will the athletes get faster form just participating in this camp. They will, however, be offered ways to improve their speed - is they so choose.

Because of the wicked winter and rainy spring many of us did not get to do a whole lot of training out of doors for sprinting and hallways are hard on the sprinters' legs, so we had to be very careful. The idea and the reason behind this camp was that athletes need to have the "tools" to develop speed ON THEIR OWN.

In all sports "speed kills" - I do not care how strong you are or how big you are - IF you cannot catch someone all the strength and size in the world will not help you. In basketball it is the quick and fast guard or forward who can penetrate, in football it is the running back or wide receiver who can make that quick step and turn on the afterburners. When an athlete is quick AND fast then look out. That is why so many of us believe that speed can be enhanced.

If your athletes want to get some ideas this camp will offer them a great opportunity.

I would love to bring my daughter from Nelsonville-York she will be a freshman and pole vaults, runs 100 and 200. Please email me the info to ny_myinger@seovec.org. Just found out she has Volleyball camp at the same time. I would like to get her up to work with your staff I am willing to pay if another time later could work on same day or another day. Let me know.
