Prelims in the Southeast District

Post by wch125 »

What are some thoughts on the getting rid of Prelims in the Southeast district meets. If they were eliminated in the 100h/110h 100 and 200. Should it be Top 8 times like all of the other events in during the 1st day or 1st from each heat and next times. Just looking for input

Eliminate them, but the solution would depend on the number of heats that you would be forced to run. If there are 4 heats of less, you could go 1st place in each heat and then fill out the finals based on time.

If there are too many heats or people just want to go based on time, I believe they athletes should be heated slow to fast just like at most invitationals. This way final races should have your fastest kids and the odds of a kid slowing at the finish line and missing the finals are a lot less.

This would be a great topic for discussion at the Southeast Ohio District Coaches Association meeting on May 29 at 6:30 PM at the Jackson Ponderosa.
