Early Look at OVC-Girls-2016

Post by noreply66 »

South Point

Point will be a good team this year along with a top four come the league meet. Relay look better than average with all for teams picking up points. All field event team will score points with the discus looking the to be the strongest. Out of the 800,1600,3200 the 800 might be the only one that will score. Hurdle team will get their points in the league but it will come from middle points or lower. Sprint might be a little under average.

Rock Hill

This team will score in most events but it just might be lower points. 100m, Long Jump and 200 will find it hard to pick up points.
4x800 looks to be the best of the relays followed by the 4x400. Long jump might be the weakest of the field events and it could be the only one that will not pick up points in the league meet. Hurdles just might bring in a dozen points. Sprint will be hurting big time. Rock Hill should finish in the bottom half of the OVC

Portsmouth

They will be one of the top teams in the OVC this year. Relay teams will not be strong but will get their points. Long jump and shot put will be the best field event teams and the pole vault the worst. 1600 and 3200 look good and not the 800. Hurdles don't look to be strong but the sprints do with one of the beat sprinters in southern Ohio.

Ironton

Ironton has a few good athletics but fall off quite a bit after that. Out of the 4 relays the 4x100 will shine. Field events will not do too much this year. High jump should pick up points and the long jump may put a mark in the score sheet too. 100 hurdles can put points up but don't see too much from the 300. Sprints look to be a no show at the league meet.

Fairland

Power on the river here. 4x100 looks to be the thorn for the relay teams. It looks like the field events will carry Fairland through most of their meets. Big points all the way across the board. Same way with the 800, 1600, 3200 will not bring the points the field events will .....because it is only three events to five for the field. Hurdles will be too strong for the rest of the league. Sprint will be loaded too. If Fairland can get some help in the 4x100 they will compete with any team in southeastern Ohio.

Dawson Byrant

Will score in most of the event during the league meet. 100h, high jump and 3200 will struggle against stronger teams. Relays long better than average. Field event overall will be average but the shot put will be the strong one here with a good chance of bring in 10/15 a meet. Hurdles might find it hard to score at times. Sprint will be a little below average.

Chesapeake

Peake will be one of the top three teams in the OVC. Relay will not be strong and in the league meet some of the bottom teams will out last them. Pole vault will be the best Field team with picking up big points.1600 and 3200 look like the point getters from the distance. Hurdles at this time look to be..not to be. Sprinters will get their points.

The Finish

The league meet will have South Point, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Fairland as the top four teams. After a third of the league meet I see Chesapeake, Portsmouth and South Point bunched up with 30 plus point and Fairland with near 60. Two thirds the way through it looks like Chesapeake and Portsmouth in the 60s, South point with 70 plus and Fairland over the century mark. After the 4x400 it could be Chesapeake, Portsmouth and South Point in the 90s and Fairland between 170/180. I will say Portsmouth will take second with just under 100 points..Chesapeake will be in third with just a couple points ahead of South Point. Portsmouth, to me, looks a little stronger over the last third of the meet than Peak or South Point. What might have Peak pulling ahead of Point will be the results of the 3200.
