Congrats to 2 local guys on qualifying for the US Olympic Team Trials. They will both be competing in the shot put on Friday.

Coy Blair (Logan) - Qualified 24th with a throw of 19.44m

Kurt Roberts (Athens) - Qualified 2nd with a throw of 21.57m

Kurt is one of the favorites to go to the Olympics in Rio as he is seeded second. The top 3 in the event will go to the Olympics later this summer.

The qualifying round for the shot put will be at 11am on Friday and the finals will be at 5:40pm that same evening.

Good luck guys!!

Bad day for #3 in the world Kurt Roberts(Athens) with a 19.9 meters. He always throws over 21 meters. Just shows how hard it's to win a medal in track and field. It's weird how they do track. Seems dumb

That's why track is so great, nobody really realizes how difficult it is. A quarter of an inch can make a difference in some instances. Also, Coy Blair fouled out, but that is some great experience going into his senior year at Tiffin.

In track you have to be your best at every meet and it just doesn't happen. So many things can happen to make your performs be off. And at the same time a person can have a day they will never match again. Everything can look simple on paper. Track has to be the most entertaining sport in have watched. You have so many individual winner and even the losers can have winners.
