GAHS boys lose first meet

Cabell-Midland hands GAHS boys first loss;
GAHS girls finish second in Pt. Pleasant meet

Cabell-Midland handed Gallia Academy’s boys track and field team its first loss of the season in Saturday’s Paul Wood Invitational in Pt. Pleasant’s new sports complex in Mason County.

Cabell-Midland, from the Huntington, W. Va., area, won the 10-team boys meet with 136 points. Pt. Pleasant placed second with 133 and Gallipolis was third with 87 points.

Gallipolis dropped to 3-1 on the year.

Charleston Catholic was fourth with 53, Webster County fifth with 52, River Valley sixth with 40, Scott High School; seventh with 32, Wahama eighth with 14, Lincoln County ninth with seven and Charleston Catholic’s “B” team last with one point.

In the eight team girls division, Pt. Pleasant placed first with 129 points. Gallipolis placed second with 118 and Scott third with 86.

Wahama was fourth with 61 points, Charleston Catholic fifth with 56, River Valley sixth with 55, Webster County seventh with 39 and Lincoln County last with four points.

GAHS dropped to 2-2 overall.

In the girls division, Gallia’s Taylor Queen finished fourth in the 100 meter dash finals with a time of 13.77 for four points. Andrea Edelmann placed sixth with a time of 14:19 for one point.

In the 200 meter dash finals, Gallia’s Hannah Watts finished third in 27.87 for six points. Abby Wiseman was fourth in 28.59 for four points and Bre West sixth in 28:74 for one point.

In the 800 yard meter run, Madison Holley finished fourth in 2:41.37 for four points.

In the 3200 meter run, Maddie Dennison placed fourth in 14:13.33 for four points.

In the 300 meter hurdle finals, Andrea Edelmann finished fourth in 56:15 for four points.

In the 4 by 100 meter relay, GAHS finished second in 54.93 for eight points.

In the 4 by 200 meter relay finals, GAHS finished second in 2:01.55 for eight points.

In the 4 by 400 meter relay, GAHS won with a time of 4:2842 for 10 points.

In the 4 by 800 relay, GAHS won in 10:42.53 for 10 points.

Gallia’s Bre West placed second in the girls pole vault with a jump of eight feet for eight points.

Blue Angle Taylor Queen placed third in the long jump finals for six points with a jump of 15:05.

Gallipolis’ Hannah Loveday won the girl's discus throw with a toss of 101.08, netting 10 points for the Blue Angels.

Excluding the relays Queen and Loveday led the Blue Angels with 10 points each and West had eight.

In the boys 100 meter dash finals, Jeremy Wilson placed second with a time of 12:02 and eight points.

In the 400 meter finals, Shaylin Logan finished fifth in 54:32 for two points. Tony Easton was 13th with a time of 58:54 for four points.

In the 800 meter run finals, Gallia’s Winston Wade was third in 2:11.84 for six points.

In the 1600 meter run, Michael Edelmann was third in 4:56.89 for six points.

In the 300 meter hurdles final, Jacob Click was third in 42.81 for six points.

Gallipolis finished fifth in the 4 by 200 relay with a time of 1:40.46 for two points.

GAHS placed second in the 4 by 400 meter relay in a time of 3:51.96 for eight points.

In the 4 by 800 relay finals, GAHS placed fourth in 9:26.81 for four points.

In the 4 by 110 meter shuttle hurdles, GAHS finished eighth in 1:15.8 for one point.

Logan Allison and Wes Jarrell tied for 5th place in the high jump finals. Allison and Jarrell jumped 5 feet, two inches for a point each.

Joel Craft captured the pole vault finals with a jump of 12 feet, six inches and 10 points. Cole Tawney placed third with a jump of 11 feet for six points.

Gallia’s Logan Allisom won the long jump finals with a leap of 19 feet, 10 inches for 10 points. Wade Jarrell was fifth with a leap of 18 feet, one inch and two points.

Caleb Cambell was second in the shot put finals with a toss of 43 feet, two inches, good for eight points.

Excluding the relays, Allison led GAHS scorers with 11 points, Craft added 10, Jeremy Wilson and Campbell eight points.

Gallipolis will travel to Bidwell Tuesday for a county quad meet at River Valley High School.
