Wheelersburg
The Burg girls will be strong this year, but the 1600, high jump and the 3200 could cost them when facing teams with the same strength. 4x200 looks to be their best relay team. Field events are not the best overall but the long jump should get them big point in the league. 100m, 4x200, Long jump, 300, 200, will be the big point events come the league meet.
Western
Western will be down big time this year. Will be hard for them to score in about any event. The discus looks to be the only event you could put money on.
Waverly
Can't see no reason for this team not score in every event. 4x100 looks to be the weakest relay and it will out run most teams 4x100. If their is one event that Waverly might be shut out in it is the discus. The 100h, 100m, 1600, 400, 300, 800, 3200 and 4x400 will be big point events. looking a little deeper here I do see where the shot put could be a down year. Even if they would be shutout in the Discus and Shot put it shouldn't hurt them.
Valley
Valley looks to be a top 5 team but not a top three. The 4x100 looks to be the best relay team but the other relays should bring in points too. Discus and high jump are the best field events. Valley could score in 12 events with very little coming from the 100h, 400, 200 and high jump.
South Webster
This team is right on the edge of being a top 5 team. Scoring should come from seven events and will have to have some girls step up in the others to be in the top 5. The 1600, 800 and the shot put will be events that bring them important points. If they don't have someone step up they could finish 6 thur 8th.
Portsmouth West
West is a bottom half team that will score in 6 events. All of these event will pick up points from 6th place and under.
Portsmouth Clay
Might score in two events that will bring in very little points
Oak Hill
Six events will bring the points with the 800 and the 3200 being the best. Oak Hill will need some girls to give their best come the league meet.
Notre Dame
This team should score in half of the events with the discus and shot put having the chance to give them 20 points. Don't think they will do it but with some breaks this team might finish in the top 5 of the league.
Northwest
Will finish in the top 5 of the SOC meet. Should get points in 3 of the 4 relays. Will score in two field events. Overall they could score in 10 events.
Minford
Minford will be one of the top 3 team in the SOC. Will score in every event.100m, 4x100, 300, are event they should win. Long jump, 800 might be events where Minford might take a hit.
Green
Green will show up and give their best but the award will be few points.
Eastern
It looks like the 1600 might be the only event they score in.
The Finish
Look for Waverly to win the 4x800 and not look back. Wheelersburg and Minford will hang in there but after the 800 meters they will see the two of them are fighting for second place. Wheelersburg will need to finish strong in the 4x400 to take 2nd place. I see the top 5 as Waverly ,Wheelersburg, Minford, Northwest and Valley. If Northwest or Valley slip South Webster will jump into the top 5 or even Notre Dame.
Early Look at SOC-Girls-2016
Re: Early Look at SOC-Girls-2016
Nice work noreply! Sure do appreciate all the time and effort you put in to keeping track of times and distances. It really adds to the fun and enjoyment of the sport for many of us.
It could be interesting between Waverly and Wheelersburg. Burg appears to be bringing in some solid freshman who will help with depth. Also bringing up a good 800 meter runner and shot putter I believe. I would think they will be stronger in the relays this season. Smith is a huge loss but Ruby is a near lock in her events. (as long as she doesn't foul or hit a hurdle) Great kid and nice family. We were rooting for her in the state meet. I'm just glad she can only do four events at the league meet.
Waverly goes for their four straight league championship and they didn't graduate many. They bring up a girl who is strong in the shot and disc which were events where they often didn't score. Also bringing up a high jumper who went 4'8". They have a very strong sprinter and 400 runner coming up from 8th grade. But not real sure if she will still be at Waverly this year. If she stays we should be stronger than last year. Of course a lot depends on staying healthy.
Minford brings up a very good sprinter and Oak Hill a strong 100 meter huddler.
Looking forward to a great season! Good Luck to all the teams!!
