The Ceredo-Kenova Crash Football Team will open it's home schedule this saturday at 5pm when they host the Western Pennsylvania War-Hawks at Ward Craycraft Staium in Kenova. Not only is this the home opener, but the guest of honor is the important part. Drew Powers, a 4 year old resident of Barboursville WV is battling stage 4 Neuroblastoma Cancer. His family is struggling to manage his medical bills for chemo and blood stem cell transplants he has to undergo. The Crash Football Team has taken this young mans plight to heart and are donating all revenue made from the game, ticket sales and concessions. Other high profile sponsors have joined the effort, Chad Pennington and the 1st and 10 Foundation, Cabell Huntington Hospital, River Cities Limo Service, and several others. Each has made a contribution either financially or through services. (Special thanks to Chad Pennington for his contribution). We have set up an account at Chase Bank on 20th Street in Huntington where donations can be dropped off (Make donations out to "The Drew Powers Treatment Fund"). River Cities Limo service has arranged for young Drew and his family to be transported by limo to the game and delivered to mid-field. EVERY DOLLAR raised from the game will go to his treatment fund which will help his parents pay his medical bills as well as travel expenses when he goes out of state for treatment. Im asking all who read this (adult to adult) to please come out to the game saturday and support this effort. Eery person in attendance will raise $5 towards the fund.......and believe me much is needed. This is a remarkable child with the most contagious smile you will ever see, and he has fought this disease and all the treatments like a warrior....never crying. For those of you who have children, I ask that you take a moment and ask yourself if this was your child would you want people to help........put yourselves in the families shoes. And to top it off you will be treated to a great Minor League Pro football game.
Ive put links below to some pictures of young Drew, when you see them if you cant find it in your hearts to help then you need to check you pulse.

Id like to thank all who participated and attended the game saturday. (aprox 400 at game) The game and fundraising efforts have so far raised $3200 for his family, hopefully we can push that to the goal of $5000 by the end of the fundraising effort this week. I encourage all to send in a donation, even $5 helps, thats the cost of a McDonalds meal which we could all cut back on. lol The days game and event was a complete success, alot of money was raised, the Mayor of Kenova escorted Drew to do the coiin toss, the family was transported by limo to the game, and Chad Pennington donated Drew some signed items...and to top off the days events we beat the Western Pennsylvania Warhawks 29-14. A win win day for all. I encourage everyone to help out with this fundraiser, we will have the account open the entire coming week. I have the address where the donations can be sent below.
