Portsmouth West talent...
This past weekend at the Elite 100 combine in Indianapolis, Trevon Pendleton won the Linebacker MVP for the combine and Adam Newman won the strongest man award. Also Levi Ratliff and Kyle Auger performed really well at the combine. Things are really looking up for the program. I want to wish Trevon and Adam goodluck at the National Combine in Oklahoma.

Re: Portsmouth West talent...
These kids went against some of the best talent in the country. And you know what they was saying, nobody is going to be as strong as we are. And for the most part they was right. With Trevon winning the linebacker MVP, and Adam getting the strongest O-lineman. Kyle with 23reps at 135 for a RB, and Levi 17 reps at 135 for a QB. Our boys are true to there age, Trevon 16, Levi 15, Kyle 15, and Adam (chinstrap) 14. Where alot of the boys were older, but it goes by grade not age. They were giving credit to Coach Tripplett, Coach Bricker, and Coach Parks. They say we have a strength and conditioning program second to none. Keep it up boys the harder you work off the field, the better we'll be on the field.
Re: Portsmouth West talent...
Sounds like they did a great job and these Coaches really understand what the weight room does for a team.

Levi Ratliff was invited today to compete in the national combine in Oklahoma. Good luck to all our boys. 3 boys from the Westside at the nationals, unreal. Looks like the weightroom is paying off. A little side note 14 year old Newman 23 reps at 225lb.

I'd have to see that one to believe it.

-I'd have to see it also, many NFL players at the combine didn't lift this. This is the top 16 TE in the NFL combine this year lifting 225lbs.

This isn't a joke, the kid is legit. I have never seen him get 23 reps but, I did see him get 20 with my own eyes. If you have any questions about it, go to the West weight room I'm sure he would be more than happy to show you, lol

Appearently you guys have'nt seen Adam. Weightroom is right behind the High School. Little more information for you. Lee Compton 17 reps 225lbs., Trevon Pendleton 16 reps 225lbs. Our young men have been in the weightroom since basketball season. Maybe some of these college boys need to go through Trippletts program.
Re: Portsmouth West talent...
I don't doubt your boys have been working hard in weight room. You have a good program at West. I believe 12-17 reps from some of your boys is very realistic. I just find it hard to believe at 14yrs of age 23 reps of 225lbs. I also believe the hard work in the weight room will give west a chance at a good season. It makes all the difference between average to good, and good to great.

Re: Portsmouth West talent...
Listen guys, I have'nt seen Adam get 23 reps. But I was told by 3 players, and 1 asst. coach, that he did get it. And I would not post it if I did'nt think it was feasible.
Adam is barrel chested and not long armed, so he is built for the bench press. And plus he has been working his butt off. I know that kids and sometimes coaches may exaggerate, but I would give him at least 20 without a doubt. And another little side note Adam ran a 5.3something at his last combine. Tripplett had no weightlifting today, but 4 guys showed up and lifted anyways. And there will be some guys mad that they did'nt get to lift, but it was a last minute thing. So I hope everybody keeps looking past this young team.

I wish the young man and the rest of the team the best of luck during the season.

I am Down at the field house everyday.. I have witnessed Adam rep 225 23 times. Matter of a fact yestarday, I witnessed trevon pendleton hang clean (not power clean) 305 twice in a row.. I have played and been around a lot of college football players and have never seen someone hang clean that much. Let alone be 16 years old.

I believe this is very possible. A major part of lifting is realizing that it is just weight. The toughest part of lifting is getting your mind used to handling that kind of weight. Once you get over that anything is possible.

7/18/09 Adam turned 15, Happy Birthday Adam. I guess we can't brag about a 14 year old no more.
Re: Portsmouth West talent...
The only thing that is going to stop West from running the table in the Soc, is experience in the passing game (on offense and defense), if they can make the game a slugfest, I don't see anyone beating them

agree. The schedule is toughest at the end though, which is good. That will give them a few games under their belt and a little experience before league play.
Re: Portsmouth West talent...
This tread is about talent not strength? It takes talent to pass the ball and defend the pass.
