RaIDER82- sure the kids work hard, everyone at RV is proud of them, the problem is the coaches keep blaming the kids for what happens on the field?? Any one who watches RV play football can see they are not a fundamentally sound team and never are. That goes on what they are taught or how it is taught. All football starts with Defense and the ability to stop the run,2ndly you have to be able to run the ball. They can do neither on a regular basis and haven't been able to since 04,against anyone i don't care who they play. There has been a good bit of talent some years come through this school. I am not busting anyone's chops. I also follow GA football and they were in similar circumstances last year, new team new system, well they dedicated themselves to weight training and fundamentals. They don't run 700 different plays they run a few and run them right. They practiced hours on defense, that's right DEFENSE and nothing else!! If the coaches at RV now don't start teaching these kids how to play and how to do it fundamentally sound, they will bE 1-9 or2-8 like they previous coaches have. SEE THESE COACHES TEACH SOMETHING FOR A TIME BLOCK IN PRACTICE SAY 15 MINS. THEN WHETHER IF THE KIDS GET IT OR NOT THEY MOVE ON, LIKE A COLLEGE OR PRO TEAM. PLEASE TAKE THE WARNING, TEACH FUNDAMENTAL BLOCKING AND TACKLING,DEFENSE FIRST,TRUST ME YOU WILL SEE A DIFFERENCE. DEFENSE DEFENSE,DEFENSE.
IF NOT WE NEED TO CLEAN HOUSE OF COACHES AND GET TOTALLY NEW ONES!
STOP BLAMING THE KIDS!!
Re: OVC: River Valley (1-4) @ Fairland (1-4)
A coach should never blame the kids for a loss, he is responsible for the preparation of his team. And always congradulate your players for a win, never say it is because your coaching won the game. A team is only as good as the coaching prepares them to be, you can't coach heart, but you can rip the heart out of a team by blaming a loss on them, period.

I am around the coaches and players a lot. I have NEVER heard any of the coaches blaming the kids. Have NEVER heard the players complain about coaches.

There's just not enough talent on the field for RV right now. That's the bottom line. I don't know if there are talented kids who just aren't playing or what, but that's the problem.
