Everyone talks about Wilson and Arthur and their battle for league MVP, but this game will be won in the trenches. I'm particularly interested in watching the Jackson O-line vs. the Gallipolis D-line. This matchup features strength against strength with most of the participants being college-sized athletes. I doubt if Jackson has faced anyone with interior D-linemen as big as Gallipolis and I know that Gallipolis hasn't faced anyone with an O-line as big as Jackson's.

I think if Winchester is out, Jackson will try to pound the ball between the tackles even more than normal. If so, it would benefit Gallipolis to substitute another D-lineman for a D-Back to add some beef up front. Ironton found a weak spot in our front and exposed it. They also took advantage of our smaller LBs. I worry that Jackson might do the same if we don't get some extra beef up front.

Offensively, Gallipolis will need to continue to perform as they have most of the year. Avoiding the penalties and turnovers that have plagued them in a couple of games will be the most important key. However, like I mentioned above, we might want to get some extra beef up front to deal with Jackson's size. Jared Golden could be the X-factor. He's been hurt all year and has only played the last few weeks. This last Friday against Warren was the first time that I thought he looked as if he had his exposiveness and power back.

I expect this to be a physical, hard fought game. I don't expect anything fancy. Both teams are going to line up and try to impose their will on the other. I expect a close contest and would give an edge to Jackson in that regard as they've had a couple of intense, close games that they prevailed in over the last few weeks.

Good luck to the Blue Devils this week!

I think GA pulls it out. This one may take O.T.to decide a winner.

Looks the wildcat formation could come into play for Jackson. Plus, Drew Ervin started out the summer as quarterback. If Winchester cant go, the Ironmen should still be OK. I think his defensive skills will be missed most. Hopefully he will be back for the playoffs. Jackson's line made pancakes all game and looks like they hit their peak last night, with good, quality rotation depth helping out. If Ervin is QB, I'm sure Coach Hall will put in place a scheme that nobody will have been able to scout yet this year, which gives the Ironmen another advantage. Jackson 31-12

Jackson hasn't played a game on natural turf since Week 2 at Waverly. They'll have to adjust to that, but I don't think it'll be a problem. When you line up and run the football like Jackson, an old-fashioned mud game might be something they'll welcome with open arms.
I agree. It could slow down the speedsters and the cutting of backs.

Even with Kip Winchester out of the game, With the combination of Drew Ervin and Klay Arthur, thats an extremely dangerous backfield. Definately going to make sure i attend this game should be a great one. Hopefully the Ironmen O-Line keep up the amazing work this year and Ironmen roll over Gallia. Go Red!

It's my opinion that Kip Winchester is one of the best defensive backs I have seen play at Jackson, and I have been watching Jackson Football very closely since 1992. Kip is not only great in coverage, but the kid can flat out tackle the ball carrier as well. He has made countless huge plays in run support on the perimeter this season. His defensive skills will certainly be missed if he is unable to play, and someone will really have to step up in the secondary to pick up the slack in his absence.

the big blue has to limit the turnovers and the penalties. this game has always had a big game atmosphere. no pressure at all.

After watching both teams play. While one cannot argue with the Wins Gallia has this season and the losses. They play sporadic at best. Showing spurts of outstanding play, then going into a seeming trance and committing mistake after mistake. I mean this as no disrespect, Gallia beat Warren plain and simple. And I wish them the best, as well as a shot at playoffs. I just can't see them beating Jackson, unless they can eliminate costly penalties (newspaper had them at 11/110 yds.) and lapses in play. Maybe they can prove me wrong. Good luck and health to both teams.

Ok, no one else has brought it up so I will. This game has similar ringings to the 1999?season Playing for league title, Jackson has to play Gallipolis without possibly their "best " player. They lose to Gallipolis without him and all we heard was crying how had "best" player been there they would have won... Then both team made playoffs and Jackson was going to have "best"player back. So they got what they wanted,a healthy team and a 2nd shot at GAHS. Can someone remind me what happened. it was a few years back and my memory isn't what it used to be. cant remember player, i think 99 was the year, cant remember scores of either game. I myself would like to give Jackson a chance to repeat that season though!
