I think the TVC needs to keep the Ohio or whatever division they are in competative for them. Hopefully Alex, Wellston, and Athens stay good or in the future they could listen to other offers.

The SOC is too small for Gallia and Jackson. Ironton will stay independent. I do not see the TVC inviting Warren. I think the SEOAL will be around, even if it is 4 schools, Warren, Portsmouth, Jackson, and Gallia.

I don't understand why people think that Jackson and Gallia are too big for the SOC. We already play against many of those schools in a variety of sports. We are roughly the same size as Vinton Co based on the number of boys (last count i saw) yet we seem to get thrown out on an island by ourselves. Maybe i looked at it wrong but i thought JHS & GHS were two of the smaller schools in the SEOAL when compared to Logan, Warren, Marietta and Chillicothe.

Re: River Valley joins TVC, who is next?
based on old numbers...
Jackson 301
Gallia 268
Waverly 253
Portsmouth 204
P West 180
Minford 169
Wburg 150
Yes we would be the top dog based on numbers but you are looking at some really strong sports programs and i would be surprised if we dominated any of these teams in any sport.

I think with the changes in our economy its time to look at whats best for our schools and not "who can we allow in to beat up". I applaud the TVC for allowing Athens to join considering the size difference and i think Warren would be another great addition. They may be tough to handle some years but i'd rather have my heart broke now and again than watch 40-0 blowouts and then hit the playoffs(if you're lucky) for a one and done.

Re: River Valley joins TVC, who is next?
another thing the TVC needs to think about that far in the future is if Gov Elect Kasich desides to push for consolidation to save money. You could possibly lose 3-5 current TVC Hocking schools.
Re: River Valley joins TVC, who is next?
Don't be suprised if that happens. Ohio could be another WV with one school per county, lol.
On a serious note, Shadyside may be forced to consolidate with Bellaire sooner rather than later since the R.E. Burger power plant, which supplies SHS with nearly a half-million per year in tax dollars, is shutting down at end of year. Wow, that'd be sumpn' too.

A 4 team SEOAL would stink for many sports, because that would mean some championship events might only have 1 team competing.

Let's say Logan and Chilli go to the MSL... Does Ironton come back with: Warren, Portsmouth, Jackson, Galia, and what other "bigger" school(s)? Try to get a league of 6 ?

I've waiting to see when Shadyside/Bellaire and Bridgeport/Martins Ferry consolidated. Southeast Ohio WILL look like West Virginia SOON.

Athens is pretty happy in the TVC. League games are close and they get treated better than they did in the SEOALDundas wrote:Athens55Buckeyes98 wrote:Let's say Logan and Chilli go to the MSL... Re: River Valley joins TVC, who is next?
Every team in the league couldn't wait to play Athens in Football so they could run the score up on them. JV and Varsity. Thats the truth. I watched Jackson throw 3 TD passes in the 4th quarter of a blowout against Athens. They were all three deep balls to. Don't tell me Athens wasn't treated like crap. They were a doormat in Football except for the couple years when Gregory was there. Every league game against Athens was used as a chance to biuld up stats. I know in your world the SEOAL would never do such a thing but it is the truth.gahs4ever wrote:How do you "treat someone better?"
For years SEOAL championships went through Athens; especially in basketball. Every hear of Charlie MacAfee? The gym is named after him. You dont name gyms for people who arent successful or have a lot of money...lol.
There are a variety of sports Athens would compete VERY WELL in the SEOAL right now; among them baseball, golf, wrestling, soccer, and the last coupld of years even football and basketball.
So what does it mean when you say the SEOAL didnt treat Athens very well?

I don't know of any Athens fan, coach or administrator that wants to leave the TVC. I don't think it will happen.
I never even hear any posters on here from Athens ever say they want out of the TVC.
If a team is going to move from one league to another, there has to be some sort of consensus - at least among administrators - for it to happen.

When did this happen? I saw a lot of Jackson/Athens games from mid 80's thru 03 or so and I guarantee it never happened then. Would be really surprised if it happened after that also.Orange and Brown wrote:Every team in the league couldn't wait to play Athens in Football so they could run the score up on them.
