Sharp was as good as advertised. Score probably would have been worse had he got more touches.

Blue Devils better find some offense.

WOW..... Where do I start???? Everyone has been saying our offensive line is our strength.... We better rethink this..... No passing offense at all, that's probably because the QB was running for his life the entire game... Play calling very questionable..... Wingtee offense, enough said...... Many positives... Boys never gave up, played hard the whole game.... Brandon Taylor was a beast on both sides of the ball..... Defense looked solid, but need to score "some" points on offense.... Hats off to Athens, overcame a 10-0 deficit in the second half, never gave up..... One thing that got my attention was how we wasted our last T.O. of the game.... Did anyone else catch this......LOL.....

I believe the time out was taken because Williams was sent in to play on the line with #47 jersey on, came off and switched to #68. I saw official come to sideline and say something to coach, he called time-out and this took place.

I am not sure the time-out would have mattered, the team seemed to be in no hurry to run a play, first game stuff probably (hopefully).

Was impressed with Jarrell's vision when he ran the ball.

Would have been interesting to see Logan running the ball on the outside, he seemed to have a good amount of speed.

Coach will make the adjustments, and The Blue will play better next week.

Hope you are right 78.... My point about the TO is I do not believe our coach knew the rule... He was on the field asking every official something before he called the TO..... LOL....

Just got back from the game, Athens played a good game and overcame several mistakes with ball handling and a couple of questionable coaching decisions to defeat a scrappy GAHS team tonight. With all due respect to DeVon and anyone wearing blue this evening the best player on the field tonight was wearing #36 in white, Mitch Rider was an animal on defense with some help from #60 Trevor Sorrell and a few others. The defense for Athens was outstanding this evening and the main reason for a Bulldog victory in my opinion. Congratulations to Athens on their victory and to Gallia for their great effort. Good luck the rest of the way!

Great game tonight at Memorial Field. Winning in Gallipolis isn't an easy thing to do, so Athens should be very proud of this one. The Bulldogs have a very good football team and I look for them to definitely contend for the TVC Ohio title. Mitch Rider is without a doubt one of the best high school linebackers I have had the pleasure to watch. He was an absolute man out there tonight.

Gallia Academy does have a good football team. They have a ton of size, Taylor is a very good back, and Jarrell has a lot of promise at the QB position. The Blue Devils will be SEOAL title contenders by the time all is said and done, in my opinion. They certainly miss the big play capability of Austin Wilson, but I think they'll get the offense clicking soon.

Also thanks to the GAHS fans tonight for being good hosts, you were respectful and cheered hard for your team and should be proud of the effort of your team. This is one series I hope we can keep going for several years to come.

The reason GA couldn't run the ball is because Athens stacked the box and blitzed the linebackers all night and brought more than we could block. 36 for Athens was in the backfield all night. The line wasn't great, but it wasn't as bad as some might think. The play calling was abyssmal. You just can't run slow developing plays against a defense that brings the house every play. We didn't call nearly enough quick hitters to counteract the blitz. The one quick pass to the TE that we ran was successful. The few quick hitters to Taylor did fairly well. Any play call that took any time to develop didn't stand a chance and we tried WAY too many of them.

I thought the defense played well for the most part. They swarmed to the ball well. Guisinger (71) was impressive tonight making a bunch of tackles and show great mobility for a 300+ lb. player making several plays at the sidelines. Our pass defense showed holes. Only the pass rush saved us many times.

Athens was impressive. The blitzing LB was amazing. The one-handed catch Sharp made for the long TD was impressive along with the throw the QB made while taking a hit to the chest. The most impressive thing that Athens did was that they wore GA down. I thought GA had the size and conditioning advantage and would take over the game in the fourth quarter and the exact opposite was true. Athens beat us up in the last qtr.

Congrats to the Bulldogs on a well-earned victory!

Size and conditioning had nothing to do with the loss in the 4th. It was simply a fast back (Sharp) and porous pass defense.

The first TD they scored, you're right, but the second, they just lined Sharp up in the I-formation and ran off tackle to score on us.
