TVC WINS ONLY 4 GAMES FRIDAY ...

Post by 93Bulldog »

Out of 15 teams, the TVC only racked up four wins Friday ... three wins came versus other TVC teams (Trimble beating NY, Waterford beating Miller and Alexander knocking off Federal Hocking) ... the other wins came against a West Virginia team (Wahama over Fayetteville).

Any thoughts on a dissapointing weekend for the TVC? Can they rebound in week 2? Will they?

* Sorry, but I just got back in from driving 17 hours from Florida ... I will be working on updating the TVC web site over the next few days ... some scores and standings have already been done ... http://trivalleyconference.com/

Although the teams within the TVC usually compete fiercely with each other, no one outside of the league has much to worry about. Unfortunately, we continue to show that we are a weak league compared to others in the state. Logan has been way down talent wise the past couple years, so even if we beat them it's not impressive. We will see as the season progresses, but right now it's not looking good.

I thought last year the TVC faired pretty well Buckeye Backer ... wins over Gallia, Warren, Waverly, Coal Grove, Chillicothe, Newark Catholic, Bishop Ready, Logan ... Meigs took care of Fairland & Minford ... Wellston had a win over Oak Hill ... I mean, there were a lot of quality wins ... but this year, all those season opening games were losses ... I'm hoping it has more to do with the opponents just being better football teams this time around.

There is one stat that sums up that statement perfectly.

Over the last 10 years NY and Trimble have a combined 150-63 overall record with 12 playoff berths. (NY 74-33 with 7 playoffs & Trimble 76-30 with 5 Playoffs).
In that same time frame they are a combined 2-34 against non TVC teams that finished the season with a winning record. NY 1-21 (win over 6-4 Piketon '08) Trimble 1-13 (win over 8-3 Caldwell '08).

It's not like the SEOAL did much better. The only wins they had were also against TVC teams.

I appreciate your point Bulldog, but think back to those teams. Waverly, Coal Grove, Chillicothe, Newark Catholic, Bishop Ready and Logan weren't exactly what I would call quality wins. Certainly, most of those schools have a winning tradition but they weren't playing up to that level last year. Both NY and Athens had outstanding teams last year led by excellent Senior classes, but they are gone now. The stats provided by icanpickem are amazing.
