Don't count your little nut cookies tooooooo fast my friend. I do believe the chiefs are going to arrive in Buchtel this year with a fierce attitude and a big big statement to make, Imo.Amarranavajas wrote:Well said.bucknutsboy wrote:keep thinking positive but when the buckeys put a beatin on you for the third year in a row you cant just give up. When your team is winning, be ready to be tough, because winning can make you soft. On the other hand, when your team is losing, stick by them. Keep believing.

Re: Logan Football 2013
The last two meetings the Bucks put on a display winning 42-6 and 50-0 but this year should be a lot different from the last couple. N-Y appears to be slightly down from what they are used to (but many successful teams have had the same things said about them) and Logan should have a bit of a spring in their step to start the season (new coach, hopefully new attitude) . I know this is looking a bit down the road but I'd say this could be a good game.Trenchfoot wrote:Don't count your little nut cookies tooooooo fast my friend. I was wondering where coach Burke was before he came to Logan? I know he was at Medina Buckeye for a few years but where was he before that?

Burke is originally from Lancaster, played football at the University of Akron, and was the D-Coordinator at Hilliard Darby prior to coaching at Buckeye.

Thanks. It looks as if he struggled a bit in his three seasons at Buckeye and I was hoping to get a better idea of what to expect from Logan this season.
Re: Logan Football 2013
In fairness to Burke he had to deal with a 395.00 pay to play fee while at M-B,I'm sure that had a huge role in the sub par record!

Good to know C-Bolt, it does change my opinion a bit. What year did they start pay to play? I was wondering what happened there, did the previous coach leave knowing it was going to be a struggle? I noticed that in the 10 seasons prior to Burke's arrival Buckeye only had one .500 or worse season and four playoff appearances and I would have been a bit concerned if it were only a straight up coaching change. Good luck to the Chiefs and their new coach, hopefully we can get back together on the gridiron soon!C-Bolt wrote:In fairness to Burke he had to deal with a 395.00 pay to play fee while at M-B,I'm sure that had a huge role in the sub par record!

I don't know what year it started, but he said they had failed levy after levy dating clear back to 1994, so I assume it was in place when he started or shortly there after.I just went back and looked at the article again and it said in his first year players had to car pool to get to games so it must have been in place when he startedA-Town Big Dog 2 wrote:Good to know C-Bolt, it does change my opinion a bit. Re: Logan Football 2013
On Medina Buckeye, they were never much to talk about. In that county, Medina H.S. is top dog. After that come suburban schools and Medina Highland is no doubt the best program. Buckeye, besides having pay to play also had small numbers and little talent to work with. They got by playing smaller teams and weaker schedules. Burke actually didn't coach his last year there quitting before the season started as they laid off some of his coaches after a levy failure. Very ugly situation there. It should be interesting to see what he can do with an established program, albeit one that has suffered losing recently. Logan is not comparable to Buckeye. This is a step up and far better situation than he was in.

Re: Logan Football 2013
Burke was there 5 years and went 26-25 with a playoff appearance. The coach prior to Burke was 40-12 in 5 years but that is the ABSOLUTE best the school has ever had. Burke actually made the playoffs in '09 during the middle part of his run, so it wasn't all on the back of the previous coach.
Like Paladin said, Buckeye is not a good comparison to this job. He has experience at a BIG school in Darby and a smaller school in Buckeye. Logan sits right in between those kind of schools, hopefully the lessons from both places mixed with improving talent will help turn the corner.
