Re: Ironton Turf project has started
I guess I'm going to have to have a talk with DR. Ross and OHSAA. We are the Fighting Tigers of Ironton for crying out loud, this should be an automatic thing now that we'll have Turf
Maybe they'll just start having the State Championship games here now

Re: Ironton Turf project has started
Any school who wants to host a playoff game has to apply the the OHSAA's. You have to have turf to host but having turf doesn't always gaurentee you will host. I am sure if Ironton applies they will get to host a game or 2 but it could be any division depending on the schools in the area who are in the playoffs.
I believe they open up applications at the end of the regular season for hosting.
I would suggest talking to a couple schools who host regularly because ohsaa likes a tight ship run for these games and if you do well the first time they are more likely to give you games in the future.

Now that the tradition is broken it is time for new uniforms and helmets......
Re: Ironton Turf project has started
I would say about the only hope for Ironton to host a playoff game would be if it was a Burg vs. Fairland or West vs. South Point (or something similar to those examples) round 2 game. Out of curiousity, what is the Tank's seating capacity?tigercannon71 wrote:ohbuckeye2 wrote:I guess I'm going to have to have a talk with DR. Ross and OHSAA. The only Playoff game I care about at the Tank right now is a 1st round home game
I'm not really sure what the seating capacity is, we do have extra bleachers on the practice field that can be easily moved if need be.

I'm not sure of seating capacity either, but tanks stadium can host a huge crowd.
I remember the old games ironton/Ashland-------------ironton/Portsmouth---------------------ironton/burg---------------ironton /cape.it was just a mass of people , plus both ends zones just wall to wall people.

I don't know with 18 Boys in grades 9-11, sure would be nice to watch them on Saturday nights again.Girevik wrote:I keep hearing Ironton St Joe is bringing back football. Will they be playing here too?
New rule this year - Since St Joe doesn't have a Football Team, any boy that wants to play Football can play for Ironton without any penalties.

Just a little clarification of the rule. Those boys must live in Ironton. If they happen to live elsewhere, say for instance in Coal Grove they must play in Coal Grove. I can't see St Joe starting up football with them playing soccer.

I was told st. joe graduated only 10 kids this year. how close, just out of curiosity are they to the smallest school in the state.
Re: Ironton Turf project has started
They're really close. Marion Catholic had 38 kids 7-12 before it closed. You're Tiger Bait wrote:I was told st. joe graduated only 10 kids this year. how close, just out of curiosity are they to the smallest school in the state.
