I would have disagree that we have a ton of talent coming up. I think we have some teams (with the right coaching) that could be playoff teams, and league title contenders, but we won't have a stretch of talent like did from 00-02 or 08-11 from possibly a few more years (I hear the 6 and 7th graders are really talented).
I think we will find a good coach. However, if history shows anything, it will probably be March or so before we know who that is.

Wells said. Junior high success does not always hold true at the high school level. I still think that West will have a hard time finding a Coach that is and should be a Teacher. At least someone with a college degree may be ok. I wonder when West will post the job. The kids need to be in the weight room at least after the start of the new year. Keep in mind this is one area hands down Coach Triplett is better than 98% of the Coaches today. I would say that held true a great deal this year because West lines was smaller than every team they played this year.

Pendleton would be good choice, he will be a great coach. With Pendleton you would get someone young that is not already set in their ways. Pendleton has a very high i.q for the game and would get more support from the community than anyone. I have mentioned to a friend of mine Josh Matiz he should apply he is a teacher and coaches at Minford I believe he would be a good head coach. I have also heard though the grapevine that a coach in a neighboring county that has ties to the soc might be interested.

very good post agree 100% except for the money part.Westfan wrote:The only way it will work is everyone on the staff has to go. Everyone. Then the new coach comes in a chooses his assistants. If he chooses to keep someone currently on the staff fine. But no one has a right to be there unless they are wanted by the head coach. Practices should be closed to all others unless cleared by the coach.
I disagree about Pendelton. He would be a great hire. Is he inexperienced? Yes. But everyone is inexperienced some time. The coach at Piketon is young. So is the coach of West Lafayette Ridgewood. Both have been successful.
West does not have the money to pay a coach a big salary, or especially assistants. That is a big problem. Jared's dad was an assistant and is very knowledgeable. His father-in-law was a head coach for years. So he has the support structure to fall back on. He's from here. Played here. Is respect ed and liked here. And most of all is opinionated and has the cajones to back it up. His work outside football allows him the flexibility to put in the time.
But whomever we get I want a coach that is committed to west. Wants to be at west. Wants to build a program, not just coach football at the high school level. That means pee wee up. Being at the games and being involved with what the feeder program is doing. That is the only way to sustain excellence and not have sine waves of success.

West does not have the money to pay. It is great to hire someone young and enthusiastic and it sounds like he wants the job, just no experience.

I know I'm from the other side of the county but i would suggest to have no"fathers" coaching on this team and they have to many coaches doing this. Coach "T" is a good man but i think when you have dads coaching they can be a distraction and have there own agendas.

Shake your head all you want. A lot of the West school district is in and borders Shawnee forrest, when they cut the timber in shawnee a lot of the money goes to the school and township where the timber is being cut. So I believe when people says West cant afford to pay better its a lot of bs.local superstar wrote:SMH

Actually you are right. There is a listing of teacher/coaching salaries in the state of ohio. West's head coaching salary falls right in line with others in the area.luvbigcats wrote:Shake your head all you want. from my understanding, why wouldn't p-town hire newsome if he was any count, lost the first couple games cause of his offense and defense that T had to
let him put in. pendleton might be good in a few years under a good head coach but not now.
