If the defense plays as well as it did last week and the penalties and special team blunders are fixed, the Indians get win #1.

This game is going to completely depend on the Groves passing game working good enough to loosen up Valleys defense. If the Grove cant do this then it may be a long night.
Re: WK 2 Valley (0-1) @ Coal Grove (1-0)
The refs was really bad in this games lots of missed calls and the clock management was horrible they even had the clock running during a xp try
Re: Final: Valley 34 Coal Grove 19
Coal Grove had a shot in this one. They kept it close until the fourth quarter. A couple of questionable calls and some missed tackles. But, this game is finished. Time to prepare for Portsmouth West next week.

Game was closer than the final score would indicate. CG has the most trouble with the QB when he’d get out and run. Inexperience in the secondary rearing it’s head with missed tackles and soft, out of position coverage from time to time. Slow to react in run support.
Offense still looks best from the spread and if receivers can consistently catch the ball, a balanced attack with Stapleton and crew will work itself out
Both defenses played well between the tackles. The game was won on the outsides, passing game, and scrambles for Lucasville. I can see these 2 meeting up in the playoffs.
Hornets did a lot of good things tonight and have their list of things to shore up before next week’s game against west.

I watched it....as a Valley fan I will agree on the refs. It was interesting. Valley defense still playing well really only gave up 12 points (kick return TD made the 19) just need to shore up the tackling, but its better.

I guess this game is all about what side of the stands you were sitting on. Coal Grove only had 1 true TD drive. They returned a kickoff and were set up on their first TD by a bad snap on a punt. Valley put together 5 long TD drives and even had a 70 yard TD called back. The game was very poorly officiated on both sides of ball and I could hear Valley's coach yelling about the 40 seconds clock operator all night. Good win for Valley as I think Coal Grove can win 5-6 games. They are a typical Coal Grove team that is hard nosed and tough.

Someone from Valley pass a word of thanks along to your coach for me please. He stopped my boy in the line and told him he was a heck of a ball player. He works hard with lots of criticism and very little praise. That’s how they learn, I get that and I’m not complaining. However, that little bit of acknowledgement and praise meant a lot to him.

I'm certain Coach Crabtree will get that word!tkd325 wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 12:29 pm Someone from Valley pass a word of thanks along to your coach for me please. On the field, that was one of the better Valley/Coal Grove games in a few years.
Now, officiating, that was one of the worse games I have seen. Alot of missed calls on both sides.
For Coal Grove, time to forget this game and get ready for West.
