This year's tournament
This year's tournament
What are the general guidelines for this year's tournament? I read somewhere that the region's will be decided after week 5 and teams will have to decide if they want in.. Last years had approximately 25 teams per region. After 2 weeks of tournament play we have to be down to the top 16 teams for the tournament to play out evenly.. So there has to be some byes to work out correctly... Plus previous years the tournament was computer based with little human input... This year will be the opposite and leaves a lot of room for favortisms.

Like said just win. No point systems this year. Not sure how regions work out but with coaches seeding teams is going to make for some fun games.

Softball-Baseball-Soccer and Basketball have been doing it for years. I think it will be neat for football. It will cit back on several teams that finish 8-2, 9-1, 10-0 not making the playoffs, just because their opponents struggled to capture wins. I think its a win-win.

Rankings will be voted on by the coaches, no need in figuring it out now. Let's just work week to week on this and hope it all holds together, plenty of time to scrutinize the rankings at a later date.superblue wrote: Thu Aug 20, 2020 10:19 am What are the general guidelines for this year's tournament? better yet let everyone in after this year as well and let the games sort the winners out
Re: This year's tournament
Then again the safe thing to do would be to have certain teams opt out due to safety reasons. Not demeaning anybody, but imagine the difference in athleticism if say the Notre Dame Titans drew Marion Local, Newark Catholic, or Trimble? The OHSAA needs the revenue but is it worth it to subject teams to physical beatdowns?

This is so true, especially for D5-D7. Imagine an 0-6 D5 team having to play at Ironton or Kirtland, the talent and physicality gap is as wide as the Grand Canyon. Injuries to the 0-6 team could be devastating. Some bad teams must opt out!Omega wrote: Mon Aug 24, 2020 3:51 pm Then again the safe thing to do would be to have certain teams opt out due to safety reasons.
