If Athens were still in the league, Ironton would be coming to Logan. This schedule was set up back in 2006, before Athens announced they were leaving.
Let me try it this way.
Every year, you either have FOUR league home games, or THREE league home games according to the original schedule.
If you had 3 last year, you should have 4 this year and vice-versa. Chillicothe only had 3 home games last year. The league had to get them 4 for this year. Since you play your DIVISION teams every year, those games can't be switched by the league. But when it comes to the cross-division games, you can move them around.
SO....
Ironton had 3 league home games last year. They should have four this year. They don't. Why? Athens was their 4th home game. They replaced it with Nelsonville-York on the road (but got the home game with the Canadian team instead). If Logan would have been AT Ironton, the Tigers would have had FIVE league home games, which you're not supposed to have.
According to the original scheduling format, Ironton would have gone off Logan's schedule after 2009. At that point, there would have been 2 games AT Ironton and 2 games AT Logan, and both teams would have kept the 4 home, 3 away, 3 home, 4 away format.
THe only thing Athens screwed up was Ironton getting 4 league home games this year.
