Blaming the current state of the Tiger program on off season conditioning program is ridiculous. There was no such thing in the 70's and we did just fine without it. The '79 team won a state championship without an off season conditioning program. I comes down to dedication and desire. You either want it or you're just out there to be there because that is the thing to do.

You blew your whole post by saying 1979. The game has completely changed. Off season is extremely important for many reasons. The game is so much quicker that's why you see less and less of the power game ran at any level.

In the 70's you could get away with it because I'm guessing not to many teams were doing it. In 2016 you will not find any quality programs that don't have an offseason conditioning program. I think you might be surprised to see some of the gains the kids make in the offseason programs.

LoL....

Notre Dame didnt run the spread offense in 1942 and still won.... Nobody ran the spread then.

Nobody was conducting off season workouts in the 70's. The game has changed, and if you dont change with it.....You become the 2016 Tigers.

There was no off season condition program but the football players either wrestle or played basketball. In the spring you had to participate in a sport either baseball or track and you did not say no. Yes there needs to be an off season conditioning program and I believe that is where your discipline starts! That in nut shell is what is wrong with Ironton.

that's a fact. football, wrestled, track were my 3 till I injured my knee.and wrestling was the worst for conditioning , it was freakin brutal. esp. as a 160 pound frosh, and as a 180 pound sophomore. we had some real dinosaurs at ironton back in the 75/76 time frame.

Bait-all due respect-there's still dinosaurs at Ironton. But now they seem to be the coaches.
