2003 was the first year North had a football team. They didn't have a single senior in the high school, let alone the football team.

Let's not pretend like that has any relevance to where North is now.

Lets not pretend those last two Ironton teams have any relevance to where we are now. Ironton is a better football team than their last two products.

98, This year last year whenever. ironton played them once when they were a is year varsity team. Besides let me remind you how lucky ptown is. They do not play Logan. Thank the divisional gods.

45, Every year ironton posters claim they are gonna win because the team is "better" now. Well i for one do not listen to that. I say the Chiefs will win comfortably and results in the 2000's back me up. i actually have just seeen a continuous fall off on the field.

Portsmouth has beaten a lot of good teams over the years, they've played Glenville, Massillon, Steubenville, Elder, Xavier, Princeton, etc.

However if you limit it to recent times we played and beat Amanda Clearcreeks 1999 and 2000 state title teams, we beat Ironton's 2000 regional finalist team, we beat Portsmouth West's 2002 state runner up team, we played several Gallia and Wheelersburg playoff teams also. in the playoffs we've beaten a lot of teams this decade including Dayton Chaminade Julienne, Cincinnati Purcell Marian, and a highly ranked Ironton team in 2001. Our losses have been to Germantown Valley View, Newark Licking Valley, Portsmouth West, New Albany, Licking Heights, and Van Wert in the 2000 state final four which we reached after winning a Regional Championship in the 2000's.

Paladin wrote:Its been an embarrassment for years now down on the river for both the tiggers & Portsmouth losing to Logan. The tiggers are finally giving up and taking their ball and going home, leaving the SEOAL so they won't get beat anymore by the Chiefs. The Trojans, however, now face being unable to avoid playing the Chiefs every year .

Unless they pull a tiggertown and slink away with their tail between their legs.

For years? Twice in the last 70+ years you mean? It's not an embarrassment at all to me. I suffer no delusions about where our team is in the SEOAL pecking order right now,Logan would beat us this year and if Logan beats us next year, so be it. They beat us bad 2 years ago and we still made the playoffs and came just as close to winning our playoff game that year as Logan did theirs. Logan serves as a good barometer as to how we would fare against the teams we would see in weeks 13,14,15 if we were to make it that far in the playoffs.

Maybe you should be thankful you don't play us this year, as scheduling down of that magnitude would kill your harbin average and leave your team with one less chance to be tested for your big playoff run. :-D

98, Actually I think the Chiefs just play whoever is on the schedule. It would give your fans a chance to see a top team.

I think your Chieftain Envy is starting to show.

I think everyone just plays whoever is on their schedule. As far as my Chieftan envy showing, I don't think I envy any Logan posters on here, you guys took all the Ironton posters off our back, they're your problem now, enjoy.

PS: Nice to have you and Paladin back, it was getting boring down.

I expect Warren to be in the top half of the SEOAL , might even give Logan one of their biggest challenges in the league.

I don't mean to be wishy-washy, but after so many years of looking from the outside in, We may not beat Logan, or Ironton, Or Portsmouth, or Chillicothe,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Or we might! Every game is the last game and everything is on the line. That's what I keep tellin' the boys. Good luck to all!!

Schnell,

I don't hold out much hope for it myself but should Warren go 10-0 they will host a playoff game. Love to see a team from Franklin County find the field.

I for one am thankful they don't play Logan this year.Portsmouth would get crushed by the Chieftains this year. Portsmouth isn't the same team they used to be . The program has been falling apart since they lost Bubba Hickman from the coaching staff. In my honest opinion Portsmouth has been down for at least five years now and I don't see it getting any better any time soon.

Yes..you are correct..Warren is not on our radar right now..but that's just b/c we have Ironton, Zanesville, and Marietta before we have to worry about Warren. No knock on Warren..b/c I don't know anything about them this year..but I think a lot of people will discredit what they have done so far b/c yes..they are 4-0..but let's face it..they are undefeated against teams that are 2-14 combined. I'd say that's why they aren't on anyone's radar right now.

LOL, I guess we'd have to get the Boy Scouts out to start directing traffic starting at I-77, or send up flairs every minute to get their attention. If we got that far, I'd buy the flairs!!! But, however it plays out, I'll be proud of these Warriors. It's been a long time since we've had something to shout about.
