Did not think it would happen but I am glad it did for two reasons.
1-It helps N.C.
1b-I like N-York.

Next week at St. Clairsville will be another big test.
You are going into a very hostile environment. The mental part of the game next week is going to be bigger than the physical part of the game. Folks up that way in the Upper Ohio Valley take HS football really, really, serious. Hope that NY comes home with the win, and gets a fair game at St. C. New field, it ought to be great! Go Buckeyes!!

Great win for the Bucks. The NY defense definitely held their own against the best back we will see all year. 55Buckeyes98 you hit the nail on the head #3 was definitely the real deal.

N-Y picks up big win over Silver Knights

By JOE HIGGINS Messenger staff writer

NELSONVILLE —With successful attacks in nearly every facet of the game, the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes claimed a 26-16 victory on their home field Friday night, jumping their record to 3-1 on the season.

The Bucks tallied 424 yards and held the Bishop Ready Silver Knights to only 258 offensive yards for the game. The dominance on both sides of the ball helped deliver Nelsonville-York a 10-point win along with stellar play from several players wearing the Orange and Brown.

Bishop Ready (2-2) struck first with a 44-yard field goal by John Wright. The Silver Knights carried the lead into the second quarter but the Buckeyes quickly turned the tables with a 70-yard drive that concluded with a strong 1-yard touchdown run off the left side by Justin Cunningham.

Cunningham would prove to be the perfect balance of brute strength and stamina as he carried the ball 24 times for 181 yards. His teammate, Dustin Young, contributed the second strike of the two-headed rushing attack for the Bucks by delivering 86 yards on 18 carries.

Nelsonville-York is famous for its smashmouth offensive style with brutal running attacks. That tradition continues with Young and Cunningham but the Bucks demonstrated great balance with their passing attack on Friday.

Nathan Dean showed that Nelsonville-York can score on the ground and in the air. He and receiver Daniel Kline demonstrated just that with a perfectly executed stop-and-go route for a 39-yard scoring connection. Kline took a few steps off the line and looked back at Dean who executed a quick fake throw. Kline then jetted past his defender and into the end zone where the football gracefully landed into his arms after Dean completed the throw. Dean would go on to complete 10 of his 17 pass attempts for 147 yards.

Before the first half would come to a close, Dean contributed to the scoreboard with his foot as well, nailing a 27-yard field goal and giving the Bucks a 15-3 advantage.

Dean and the Nelsonville-York special teams put up another three-spot as their first possession of the second half resulted in a 32-yard field goal.

After suffering through several penalty-plagued drives, Bishop Ready finally put it all together and scored on a one-yard quarterback dive by Bo Hardy.

With the lead cut to eight, Nelsonville-York gained a boost from its boisterous home crowd and used just seven plays to travel 80 yards and have Cunningham finish the drive with a 24-yard jaunt. Dean lined up for the extra point but the Buckeyes pulled a two-point conversion pass to Young to gain a 26-10 lead.

Undeterred, the Silver Knights bounced right back and used its own air attack to fly down the field. Ryan Moore caught four passes on the drive, including a 35-yard catch and run for the score. Needing the two-point conversion to keep close, Demetrius Clark was stuffed by a plethora of Buckeye defenders, keeping the score at 26-16.

“There were a lot of doubters. Nelsonville-York is a great football program and the kids feel that way,” said head coach Dave Boston Jr. “When we go out and execute, it takes a heck of a team to beat us.”

Boston acknowledged that Bishop Ready is a “heck of a team” and said he knew that they had to control the football in order to pull off the win.

“Dustin and Justin did a great job running behind a strong line. I think our line played one of its best games. We wanted to go straight at them and we did,” Boston said. Boston also complimented the play of his passing game and said the defense showed its skill in holding the Silver Knights.

St. Clairsville is next on the agenda for Nelsonville-York. Both teams carry winning records into the contest which takes place next week at St. Clairsville.

Yes I said that Eastern could hang around because Wahama hadn't showed they could score a lot of points. For the life of me I can't figure out how you would take that to mean they wouldn't score any. I even picked Wahama to win the game! If your gonna quote me or use my statements against me make sure you tell the truth.
I presumed that when your statement above said they can't score "a lot" of points, that probably meant less than 10 to let's say 14. Yes, it's a figure of speech I used when I said "any" but if you were meaning any more than those totals listed above then your statement is way off, especially when someone scores 41 points. Oh well , this is history now. Anyway, me and a couple buddies from Ready and Meigs will be on the visitors side friday night to take in this titanic struggle. 8)

Speaking of "WAY OFF"
NY 26
Ready 10
Your prediction of Ready by 14 is only 24 points off!!! And if NY had chose to score from the 1 foot line instead of run the clock out you would have been off by 30+ points. I really hope you enjoyed the game from the ready stands with your "Buddies from Ready and Meigs"

Good luck and hope you guys make the playoffs!
I'm off to stir up crap with Ready's other opponents.
Unfortunately, I can't stir much up this week with the Kentucky team they're playing. I've heard they are really terrible. Another cupcake opponent picked out by Larry Wolf this week for the Knights.
Oh, that's right, according to the Ready faithful, he has no say in who his opponents are...yea right!

Lol very good you must no it all.
