Re: WK6 (1-4) Logan @ (4-1) Athens
If I'm serious for a second - Athens SHOULD win this game. And they're more likely to win by a bunch than by a little.
Davis might not be Joe Burrow - but that's like saying Dominique Doseck isn't Katie Smith.
If we measure every kid against Joe (or Katie) we might as well give up. Players like those two are once in a lifetime in their sports.
Logan has struggled against good passing teams. And this kid can flat out sling it. Logan will HAVE to control the clock and hold onto the football - which they did a pretty good job of last week. But I like Athens' linebacker better than I do Chillicothe's LBs.
Of course, this was all basically true last year and the Chiefs rose up - and the pups let Logan hang around. Can Athens get over the mental hurdle that is Logan? That's the big question.

What should help Logan in this game is they've played some pretty good teams up to this point, but playing in the plains in doggy territory is another factor. We all shall see soon. Go Chiefs!!

Saw the JV game last night. That Moore is on another level and only a freshman for Athens. Most schools he would be the starting QB right now

What Athens team would have scored 100 on Logan? There are so many
2013 Athens would have scored 100 on Logan
2014 Athens would have only put up 80. Darn Athens rule

It was that way with coach Boston Jr., and even more so now with coach Richards having to face the Trimble fans daily. So I'd say it's the main rivalry for both teams at this point.ArmChairQB wrote: Tue Sep 26, 2017 10:08 amsuper bowl? Trimble is Nelsonville-Yorks biggest rival. I know some Athens fans try to say it's them but the hardest hitting game of the season is against Trimble.
We can still beat them to secure the league title week 9 lol
Not all NY fans consider Trimble their biggest rival! But all Trimble fans do consider NY their biggest rival!

Logan needs games, there is zero chance they don't renew.Raider6309 wrote: Tue Sep 26, 2017 2:25 pm How much you wanna bet Logan doesn't renew the Athens contract?
70/30 chance Athens doesn't renew.

It was Athens who ran away from playing Logan's powerhouse teams in 2008 and 2009. They went and played Bloom Carroll instead.
Athens backs out on football agreement
By Craig Dunn Nov 1, 2007
LOGAN - It looks like the Logan Chieftains and Athens Bulldogs have played football for the final time… or, at the very least, for the near future.
Athens High School on Tuesday backed out of a contract with Logan for a pair of non-league football games, meaning the Chieftains have a glaring week-three hole on their 2008 and 2009 schedules.
The Bulldogs, who are leaving the Southeastern Ohio Athletic League for the Tri-Valley Conference at the conclusion of the current school year, were to play in Logan's new stadium next season and host the Chieftains in 2009. They lost their final 17 SEOAL football games and 23 of their final 24, with only a narrow two-point win over Warren in 2005 to show for the last four seasons.
Ron Janey, Logan High School activities director, said no monetary fine was put into place in case one of the schools broke the contract, which was a good-faith agreement between the two schools.
Twelve consecutive defeats at the hands of the Purple & White - including a 62-6 thrashing this fall - more than likely played a key role in Athens' decision.
The Chieftains outscored the Bulldogs 499-118 in their final 12 meetings, beginning in 1996. Logan and Athens met on the football field 88 times since 1914, playing every season except for 1916, 1918, 1920-22, 1930 and 1978. Logan won the series 49-34-5.

Logan's 2008 and 2009 non-league schedules, for reference:
2008: Lancaster (DI), Pickerington North (DI), Hamilton Twp (DII), Gallipolis (DIV)
2009: Lancaster (DI playoff team), Pickerington North (DI playoff team), Hamilton Twp (DII), Gallipolis (DIII), Zanesville (DII, went 9-1)
So try again, Chief
