Minford Falcons 2010

I wasn't there but a friend of mine called and told me the Falcons played very well for a first scrimmage today against Rock Hill. I'd
like to hear anyone else's take.

they looked pretty good for a first scrimmage. The O-Line looked pretty good and got their assignments. The backs all ran hard and picked up good yardage. Butcher threw the ball effectively in the short passing game and I believe he even had two 30+ rushing Td's. Got to get a few kinks out that will come with more practice. We will get a good measuring stick come Saturday at Portsmouth

TD counted as 1 and I heard the score was 5 to 1 Minford. Butcher score 4x and Slone once. JV won 3-2 and did fine but needs some work. Keep an eye out for a possible time change for SAT if the heat index is 100 F at 5:30. They may push it back towards 7:00pm.

Not suprising. Outside of Royster, Butcher and Piquet are the fastest guys around. We will really get a better picture after the Portsmouth scrimmage.

I don't think they will push the game back, to 7:00. Their saying it should cool down a little, and maybe rain.
But this will be a big test for our Falcons. Portsmouth has a very good team. We should find out how good our defense is going to be, Portsmouth will be a hard team to stop. I think we will be able to move the ball some on them, I just don't know if we can stop them!!!!

I just got off of the phone with a friend of mine who was at the scrimmage. He said Rock Hill is very big up front and the QB is good, but could not match up with Minford's speed and athletic abilty. He thought Minford looked very good most of the scrimmage with a breakdown on a bubble screen by Rock Hill. He also said that Minford has great team speed, particularly on defense. Also, he felt several players new to varsity time stepped up. Finally, he said Minford's run game was excellent.

I actually see Minford matching up with Portsmouth farily well. I just hope both teams come away with zero injuries. Both teams, if healthy, should have very good seasons.

No, I think it is still Friday. Or at least that's what I heard. I haven't heard anything about them changing it, except on here!!!
