I was told the flag was thrown not on the bench, not on any coach but of all people a local sports writer,go figure.

No the sportswriter got warning for discussing the pass interference with some else standing down there and the ref overheard gave him a warning and when the official told Coach Lutz. Coach made a comment about holding and boom he gets an unsportsmanlike.

trojandave wrote:Congratulations to the Fighting Tigers on the win........it was great to talk to You're Tiger Bait, Kantucky II, Tigertownturkey, and Gray Fighting Tiger at biggdowgg and Ozzie's tailgate.......thank goodness I got there early enough to get a brownie with all those hungry Tiger fans around!!

I was very pleased with the Trojans' offense.......we moved the ball up and down the field with our passing game, and if it weren't for a few turnovers deep in our territory, this would have been a much more competitive game........but Ironton was the better team, no doubt.

In the last 6 games vs. Ironton, Portsmouth has averaged 28 PPG on offense yet the Trojans have won only 1 of those games. We just haven't been able to keep IHS out of the end zone!!

The Trojans' special teams gave Ironton two very short fields starting out, and the Tigers took advantage of it, scoring two TDs........another fumble by the offense gave IHS yet another short field, and once again they scored a touchdown. Our defense didn't play well, but at the same time they were put in some situations that they didn't create.

Ironton's pass defense must improve if they are to make a long run in the playoffs.......I also think that the Fighting Tigers must be able to complete some passes themselves to balance their offense somewhat.......they most likely will face some teams that will defend their running game well. Right now, I think Ironton is good enough to win Region 15, but beyond that, it could be difficult for the Fighting Tigers.

Next season for Portsmouth........the offense will be fine, but we must get a DEFENSE in our program, or else the talented kids we have coming up will experience being on the short end of the scoreboard more often than not. LET'S GET A DEFENSE BACK IN PORTSMOUTH FOOTBALL!!GO TROJANS!! 2011!!
Couldn't agree more........been several years since we've put a good defense on the field......farewell and the best of luck to our seniors........if any of the returning players see or hear this.......GET IN THE WEIGHT ROOM! We were undersized and not as physical or strong as most of the teams we played this year. A year of hard work will do wonders....if not as Dave said above.....we will be on the short end of the scoreboard! Good luck Tigers in the playoffs.

Nope, I was right there where it was all going on. The penalty was on Coach Lutz for something that he says at least 15+ times a game. A completely horrible call.

Many thanks to biggdowgg and ozzieohio, as well as the other contributors to the pregame tailgate. Everything I tried was great.

Also was good talking to several other Portsmouth fans, not the least of which was trojandave. Yes, the brownies were fantastic and I exercised lots of self-control by eating only three.

Oh comon! self-control? I thought you were going to ask if you could lick the pan when you were done! You had at least 10 lbs of beef and 2 lbs of brownies!

Congrats to the Fighting Tigers and best of luck in the playoffs. Bad break catching Coshocton in week 11, this is a very good football team you have to face. Nice to play them at home they have a heck of a ride to play you. Go Fighting Tigers

Congrats Ironton,,,go all the way and get the grand prize and make Southern Ohio proud!! To all the posters that put out the news and not so much the news, again I want to give you all a big Shout Out!
Living in Arizona not much Ohio sports out here, except when OSU comes,,,It really helps an old Trojan and a fan of southern ohio to keep a view of what is going on,,,The P-town Times gives it a try, but not much. To the Trojans, keep you head up and as suggested before hit the weigth room and workout until next season and it will pay benifits, believe me..To the Coach at PHS---get it together for next year, no excuses for the defense this year, they were just not very good, period! To the SOC--Congrats on an awesome year,,all those teams in the playoffsl...go out and do a great job and lets show the big city boys what you are made of! BTW--let my Trojans in your league,,it is very obvious they would be a great addition to the SOC...Thanks to all for my going ons here and go get em!!!
