Wheelersburg is a very good team. Their speed and formations are hard to adjust to. The McNeil boy hurting his knee and Berry out make us very thin at DB and Linebacker. I thought West done alot of really good things. Wheelersburg stacked the box with 8 and really went hard down hill to stop the run. Bradford did well throwing.

Those are the kind've games that make you better. I say there is a good chance we play again.

Gotta agree about Bradford!! He threw well all night! He even completed that pass he threw from the Burg’s bench! It went over the players, cheerleaders and coaches to nail the receiver!! Best pass of the night! lol

What game did you watch? Burg stacked the box with 8? They defended the run all night with the front 6. How do you stack the box in a 4-2-5?

Call them what you want. Strong safety, whatever. When West was in the I formation they are outside linebackers. 4-2-5 is a glorified 4-4.

I have seen both teams played and knew West was a good football team that would come in play their best game of their year and they did exactly that, take nothing away from them, This Burg Team is on a whole different level.

West defense played a good game and did all they could to keep West in the game but West offense tried to run the middle and there wasn’t nothing there when burg had 8 in the box all night making west to throw the ball. West defense wore out in second half and that was the game! Burg has too many players keeping fresh legs in the game. Alternating 4-5 players most plays too much for West. Burg is a loaded sideline to sidelines with no weakness. Burg is a top 4 team with only being challenged in the final four

Yes Wheelersburg is a very good football team. So is West. Game kinda got away from West late but with 8 minutes to go in the game the score was 27-7. It was a hard fought game.

My view from a neutral standpoint . West came out of the gate quicker and punched burg in the mouth. West looked to have straight adrenaline pumping through their veins . Was a very close game until late . Burg is better no doubt about that and then deserve all the praise they get , however west is a darn good football team as well. Good luck to both teams .

Wheelersburg can be thrown on. If they have a weakness that is it. They are tough against the run.
Defensively they sub the dline on 3rd and long but not much else.
West was probably tired, but alot of that is not finishing drives and momentum. Credit Wheelersburg's defense.

Honestly, none of it matters. West is good. Burg is just a little better. If west continues to play hard they can win a couple playoff games and hopefully carry it over into next season and be better then!

Let's face it...in southern Ohio there is not much that can bring joy to most of our communities. Daily drug raids, arrests, OD's,etc. but tonight was an example of what is right in our small towns. Faithful supporters of the youth in our schools. It is awesome to see! This support is not present everywhere. Went to a Cincy Colerain/Princeton game couple years ago with many D-1 athletes on the field and no where near the support shown tonight. No imatter our bashing each other throughout the week or light-hearted degrading, deep down we support each other as was displayed in the donation to the family of West student from Burg elementary. I for one am proud of tonight and wish West luck in playoffs. They have improved tremendously under coach Johnson.

The worst call he made all night though was the illegal procedure he called on the Burg AFTER they scored the TD. IP is a dead ball foul that should have stopped the play before it started. He missed or messed up way to many calls to be called phenomenal!! JS

That call was an illegal formation. It was just announced wrong at the game.

That is correct. It was an illegal formation. Burg only had 6 players on the LOS. It is a live ball foul which means that the play should continue. West then gets the option to accept or decline. It was handled properly. Since there was no microphone for the stadium PA, there was no way for the referee to announce it that way. He did give the correct signal. The signal is the same for both false start and illegal formation. By the way, there is no illegal procedure in high school football. That penalty does not exist.

I agree. The final score was not indicative of a hard fought game. This was indeed a good game that was well played by two good teams. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a rematch in the regional final, if West can beat Johnstown- Monroe. Both have to win next week first, of course.

Good game on both sides Burg is just better this year and IMO Burgs only challenge in this region 19 will the Johnstown Monroe Johnies they are pretty good But hopefully Burg will make it to state this year good luck

Player of the game for West was their defense for sure. I see burgs starting runningback didn’t play last night. West came to play but the play calling I think wasn’t called well because burg defense took the running game away up the middle but west kept trying. Where was misdirection plays at? I think that would have been huge. I did see burgs defense playing to aggressive toward where the ball was going and a misdirection could have made big yards
