SOC II Predictions
Re: SOC II Predictions
Legend of NW; I dont think anyone would laugh, I think most would be happy to see NW compete. Everyone knows they deservre it with the type of luck they've had lately.
Re: SOC II Predictions
So where's ol' fbnut who was jumping all over Minford about playing Piketon when the Falcons beat them, lol! 9 more days until the Pirate ship is destroyed! The thing I noticed about 'burg is not only the turnovers, but they didn't play hard. The Pirate backs ran like they had absolutely no confidence in their line. Only that White kid that was wearing # 31 ran hard.
Re: SOC II Predictions
Still here. I have never been one to take to much out of how the burg looks in a scrimmage. It's already been said but the burg never looks good in a scrimmage. You could have watched the first scrimmage the last few yrs and came away with the same feeling and it doesn't really matter who they are playing. I thought they played hard, it might have appeared they didn't because of the uncertainty of it being the first game and some players still getting familiar with some new positions.
Re: SOC II Predictions
^ So when Burg supposedly beat Ironton in a scrimmage in the 1970s, you'll pay attention to that? Boy it sounds to me like that street goes both ways.
Re: SOC II Predictions
When did I say anything about the 70's? If you want to think based on saturdays scrimmage that the burg isn't any good thats ok with me.

Re: SOC II Predictions
Burg will be fine. Having a below par performance in the first scrimmage can be a coaches friend.
Re: SOC II Predictions
I think minford will have a little better team than burg but I dont see them overcoming the disadvantage of playing at burg...tough to win there ..... dont think minford has beaten them at the burg in the last 50 some years will come down to that
Re: SOC II Predictions
^Didn't Minford beat Wheelersburg at Wheelersburg 24-14 in 2000, and then again 28-0 in a playoff game that same year?

Re: SOC II Predictions
Yes, they did! They had Parks at RB and they only lost to two teams that year in reg season and both were undefeated. PHS was one of them.

What does this have to do with who will win the SOC 2 this season?
Everyone can go on thinking this Burg team is not good. It will be ok by me. Guess we might as well give Minford the title just like was supposed to happen last year.

If you played for Minford, this sounds like you have sour grapes to me? Sure, most times SOC goes through the Burg. Last two years it was suppose to go through Waverly, Valley before that.
I here a lot of ex-Minford players say they get caught up in playing the colors, name of school or the stadium, such in your remark about it being 50 years to win there. I think this to be true. Minford has just as good of players as the burg. The difference being the "program." Dedicated coaching, year round weight lifting/conditioning and better facilities. Minford didn't have this stuff. When they did win it was a great group of kids and a great year, but not year in and year out.

Re: SOC II Predictions
marshalman you are preaching to the choir about the equal talent bit. I have said it for years. thats why i said i think minford is better just not enough to overcome home field advantage ...its hard to beat burg at home

Re: SOC II Predictions
And, it should be hard to beat Minford at home, but that isn't the case. For some reason they haven't found that "it" thing at home were teams feel they are already down 3 points before the game even starts. Once they do they will be a SOC contender every year.

Re: SOC II Predictions
There's No Hoping to it... With Such a STELLAR facilites as the revamped "Stadium","Pasture of Pain", and Super-duper "Wall O' Glory", ther WILL be the "IT" Factor.. PLUS, you don't need the factor when you've got pure talent and a Roman God of a Coach like they do...My prediction is that the Mighty Falcoons win their 1st home game 56-7.......
