LoL so you say your apologizing because you didnt know what you were talking about until you read espn top 150 lol unreal and now your mad at people for calling you an idiot lol and you didnt expect people to get mad at you for being real lol (clue) they arent mad at you for being real they are mad because your reality is in desperate need of counciling lol. Here a little help when you hear one of those voices telling you to say something on here flip him that bird and dont do it ignore him lol.
And this is a thread about Derek which is why were not talking about the rest of the team, you will need to go to Waverly Football 2009 for that thread.
And for the bird that will be 50 more hail mary's.

At least two offers from the MAC conference how can anyone put this kid down, only got to see him play once last yr and three times as a Soph, he is a division 1 athelete and is a better student than most. People who never played the game at the next level or probably never even played in HS have no idea how special you have to be to get a d1 offer. I hope to see Derek play when they light up Jackson again this year.

Reading all of this has been a hoot. I am a Piketon fan- always have been and always will be- who hopes that Waverly loses every game they play. That being said, those who think Derek Roback is not a Division I player in college are clueless. Can he go anywhere he wants and be an immediate star? Probably not. Can he be a very good college player with work and effort? Definitely. There have been many highly rated prospects that don't cut it and many lower rated prospects who do. Instead of bashing the kid, why not wish him the best and leave it at that?

Numbers don't mean anything. It's about the measurables. How many kids have we seen win SOC players of the year and stuff with outrageous numbers and not get big offers?

He played on a very bad team. Put him on a good team and he would dominate the league. Against West, he got the snap and ran for his life.

JacksonI,
Maybe sleepy floyd was talking about Roback's sophomore year when he lit Jackson up with about 8 catches for around 150 yards, 2 or 3 TDs, and 2 INTs on defense.

I just heard today that hes gonna sign on to Ironton High School and continue his football career there!
How tremendously honored he must feel to get to play for the GOOD tigers.

Well he is just as normal as everyone else he has his good games and he has his bad games and he also has his average games, im not saying hes not talented but for all the talent waverly needs to get better.

I think it is amazing how some college scouts can see things in players. I played against a guy in high school who ended up at a D1 school. In high school, he was good player, but there was NO WAY I saw him as a D1 player. Somone saw something in him though, and he turned out to be a solid player at the college level

Nice post. It's amazing how many people on here and in the stands know so much about football and recruiting. For all of those who doubt Roback, the two D-I offers should speak for themselves, no matter the schools. Recruiters find talent regardless of school size, records, and stats. There's a reason they do what they do and there's a reason we get on here and talk about what they do.

MikePike,

That is a bit harsh. I think I will go with I hope Piketon beats all of the other county teams when they play one another. I hope all of the other county teams win the rest of their games. Seems rough to wish kids from our own area that we know to lose all of their games! ha!

It's actually pretty stupid for anyone from Piketon to wish Waverly loses every game or anyone from Waverly to wish Piketon loses every game, unless of course you yourself lose to them. If you beat them you hope they win EVERY other game so you get all important computer points.

thats a pretty typical post from the county, its funny, we have talked about this before, as I was sitting at the convo cheering Piketon and talking to my friends from Waverly who were there also cheering Piketon on I thought about this same point if it was reversed and it was Waverly playing the people from the county would probably be hoping that we lose, not all but a lot of them, funny isnt it!

^^^Just like many Piketon fans sitting on Westfall's side cheering for them a few years back for Waverly's playoff game because Westfall is in the SVC with Piketon.

I root for Waverly when they are not playing Piketon. Anyone who doesn't doesn't understand HS Football. Now to the fact of Derek being a DI athlete. When a DI athlete steps onto a field ( baseball, football, or basketball, Track) everyone in the stand know it. They stand out. If you watched Derek play the game the past two years you would know that he is a special player. If nothing else he could be a DI Punter. Anyone who says he is not of this caliber either is jealous or lacking of Knowledge.

Please allow me to clarify my previous statement. My statement about hoping Waverly loses every game was to show that I wasn't a Tigers fan, and thus my comments about Roback were from the unbiased eyes of a fan from another school, a school against which he had 500+ yards of total offense. I certainly could have expressed myself better, and am accepting of all criticism my post generates.

(By the way, I have rooted for Waverly to win games in the past, just never against Piketon. Why, most recently, I rooted for them to beat Westfall in the football playoffs, even though I was sitting on Westfall's side due to more available seating. I will never, Lord willing, wear any Tiger apparel though.)
