Calm down with all the Athens by as many as they want or by 3 td's talk. N-Y had a bad game against Alex, it happens to the best teams at all levels from time to time. The Buckeyes will likely use their loss as motivation and I'll bet the have an inpsired week at practice. I think this Bulldog team is very good but as they say to be the best you have to beat the best. Athens will need a solid week at practice and a more focused effort on the field than we had last night to beat the Bucks. I think Athens will win the game, but if we start reading our headlines and patting ourselves on the back and lose focus this week N-Y surely can win the game.

I spent hours and hours researching microfilm at Alden Library at OU a few years back and stopped after I completed all of the Buckeyes history. I don't think there is anyone out there that knows anything about southeast Ohio football that doesn't already know that story.

Thank you "NYBuckeye96" for all the time you have spent researching Buckeye history. I look forward to getting on here each week and reading your posts. The facts that you site help build excitement for the upcoming game and by no means are you disrespectful to the other teams. Please keep up the good work.

As for "Mr. Fangosports" or "Mr. Benchwarmer" or whatever his name is, he has no idea of the pride that we have for our program, mainly because he knows nothing about it. Beginning in biddy league, our coaches are committed to making our team AND the entire league stronger. My son is a 6th grader and has played for NY since the 2nd grade. During that time, I have seen Coach Dean give pants, shirts, pads, etc. to other schools when they couldn't afford to buy them. This year alone I think he gave a new team to our league enough helmets and shoulder pads to dress the entire team. And, every 2 years or so, our 5th and 6th team is taken to Florida to compete in the National Youth Football Championships. What an opportunity for kids from such a small district in SE Ohio!!

This dedication is carried through the junior high and high school level. I know you wouldn't understand this "Mr. Fang" as you are just an outsider looking in. Is that called a "Buckeye Wannabe"?

No Buckeye wannabe here. Coach Dean should be commended for what he does and I do understand community pride. Also, in our township association we also send the kids (what we call minis, juniors and seniors leagues with ages 6 -12) to Florida for probably the same football tournament and have for years. And "pickbuck86", what you have to realize is that this is a public forum for opinions and that's all they are. To take things so seriously is bad for your health years down the road. I hope your kid has a fulfulling football career , have a great day !! :)

We'll wait for questionmark or 93bulldog to put up the mathematical stats. But I think the Athens Bulldogs definitely have the advantage on paper especially defensively. What a game this will be, but don't think it will be as close as the buckeyes would hope for.

Should be a huge crowd. Maybe Athens should charge for parking like Wellston. NOT! What a joke last night. Pay $2 to park in a muddy grassy field. Guess like Jackson, gotta pay for your facilities somehow. Wonder if they charge Wellston fans????? I would be curious to know.

Back to the thread: Go Bulldogs beat the Buckeyes as bad as you can!

I agree with fanosprt on one point. Athens is going to be hard to beat from here on out in the TVC Ohio. They have alot going for them . They are a D2 and even if they drop to D3 they will still have the numbers and the resources to field a good team .
I was impressed with Athens defense last night . Quick to the ball (even in the mud), they have some real nice athletes,# 2 is a fine football player and # 3 is very quick # 52 is the best lineman in the league.
Dont count Nelsonville out just yet though. They will play hard ,but if Athens plays to their potential they will win.

As I am an outsider looking in I think this will be a great game for everyone in the TVC and for Athens Co. The support that both teams get from fan, parents, school, and students is great. I wish both teams lost of luck.
Saying that anyone that discounts NY in this game is going to be in for a rude awakining. NY will now come back with something to prove. They have been winners for a reason. One game can not dictate the program, the coaches, nor the players. A good team finds away to fight back. Saying NY is the underdog is a big statement. On paper maybe Athens has the advantage but this is why the game is played on the field. Heck I believe on paper Alex wasnt the team to win but they played hard and came out with the victory.
In my opinion at this point it would be hard to chose a favorite. Only reason I would chose Athens over NY is they are on their home field....really I think this should be a close game ... maybe one team can deliever that knockout blow.
Good Luck to both teams enjoy every minute and play in the moment.

I'd love to see Athens make it, but then I'd have to turn my eyes away because of the ugliness that would ensue. :122246

I don't have ANYTHING against their kids; just the way the AD turned tail and ran from the SEOAL leaving everyone in the lurch. Now they are dominating in the TVC as a DII team and everyone is supposed to feel good for them? Sorry.

Some good news for Athens last night was not only the 'W', but teams they beat were also victorious...

1.)The ATHENS BULLDOGS (7-0)
-defeated GALIA @ Memorial Field (21-0)-----GALIA BEAT CHILLICOTHE
-defeated FED.HOCK @ Fed. Hock (47-7)-----FED.HOCK BEAT EASTERN
-defeated BLOOM CARROL @ Home (41-14)---BC LOSES TO CANAL
-defeated MEIGS @ Home (56-18)-------------MEIGS BEAT VINTON
-defeated VINTON COUNTY @ VC (42-0)-------VC LOSES TO MEIGS
-defeated ALEXANDER @ Home (33-7)---------ALEXANDER BEATS NY
-defeated WELLSTON @ Wellston (26-0)

So Athens schedule went (4-2)...need more teams to keep on winning....

**Also Dazed&Conf**
Athens had no problem with the SEOAL, that would be referring to the League that consisted of Athens, Logan, Gallia, Jackson, Marietta & Warren...but when they added and divided they changed the entire league and it was never the same...yes Athens is somehow DII this year, and play in a DIII-DIV League. However it will all work out when Athens moves down with the next counting to where they should have been this year which is DIII...in no way is Athens a DII school, the numbers are so out of whack with whoever collected them because Athens will be and remain a DIII school for the forseable future which will see them, Vinton County as DIII schools in the TVC-Ohio, and the rest as DIV & one DV (NY)...give it time...and it will all work out for the best...

Also, as a former Bulldog player who played in the SEOAL I was happy to see we added Warren back to our Football schedule for next year...I do miss the excitement of the former-SEOAL foes, but the new SEOAL is horrible in my opinion...

*D&C*
I would love to see an Athens/Logan play-off game for 3 things...

Athens would be back in the Play-Offs for the 1st time in a long time...
Athens would be battling an Old-Seoal Foe and would be great for older fans...
Athens would be (10-0) because undefeated is a must this season as our non-league schedule hasn't produced as many wins as first thought it might...

However, Athens has a lot of work to take care of before Week 11 is even a thought...

Ha, yeah, as long as WELLSTON is still in the "TVC" , Nelsonville will never win another one. . .

LOL...its funny Nelsonville-York loses to Alexander and now no one is giving Nelsonville-York a shot against Athens. Yeah Nelsonville-York got it handed to them at Alexander but I'll tell you this no way Athens wins this game. Nelsonville-York is gonna come back in a big way this week to show everyone that the loss to Alexander was a fluke and how the NELSONVILLE-YORK BUCKEYES is still the BEST in the TVC-OHIO. GOOO BUCKEYES!!!!!!! P.S. Alexander will lose to Meigs and possibly Wellston (just my opinion)!!!!!

My Predicition:

Nelsonville-York Buckeyes -- 28

Athens Bulldogs -- 10

Nelsonville wants to see the post season, they better win this week.
I think the field had a lot to do with the outcome of the alexander game . (Yes, i know both teams played on the same field, but on a dry field, arnold would go off). Im gonna go with nelsonville by 1.
BIG TIME computer points with this win.
A loss this week, will only be followed by a big butt whoopen next week at ironton.
So. . Lets get the W this week, and hop back into the playoff race. its a MusT win for Nelsonhood
