Re: Is Drew Basil the best player in SEO?
Seems like we are spending a lot of time trying to figure out what Mr. Basil is not. Why don't we focus on what he is? I know him personally and he is an outstanding young man. He is a very hard worker, a good student, and is very kind to the people he comes in contact with. Should we beat down someone who has worked very hard to realize his or her dream?

Great post. He will do fine. He is "a player" because he is part of a team, and a team is made up of players.

Re: Is Drew Basil the best player in SEO?
First, let me say what I'm about to add can be (and most likely has been) said about many young men across Southeast Ohio.
But here's more insight...
Had he not been a soccer player, coaches have told me he would've been a great defensive back and running back. Folks who got to see him on a regular basis got to witness his fearless approach to tackling the return man on punt coverage.
A couple of Chilli linebackers shared with me he wasn't thought of as just a "kicker" due to the respect he earned for his willingness to stick his nose in on plays. He was also one who was in the field house on a regular basis, lifting weights with the rest of the football team, then heading to soccer practice, then back to football for more work.
How many teams send the kicker out as a team captain and he was the one calling the toss? His work ethic was second to none.
One of the resounding notes about his character: Drew never talks about Drew. And he's always doing for others before himself. He's an exceptional young man and will do well at the next level, no question. Chillicothe is fortunate to call him their own.
I might add, I was impressed with the placekickers at Jackson and Logan this year, too. And as I've mentioned before, it all starts with your long snapper and goes through the holder before you can begin to praise the kicker. Drew benefitted from three years of long snaps by a very consistant Danny Russell, two with holder Alex Grow and had to help groom first time snappers Ryan Ferguson and Knute Bonner as well as holder Dylan Osborne this year.
Finally, Osborne was Basil's backup and is quite good. And yep, there's another youngin' behind him that's been turning heads. Coach Hinton will be a happy man on special teams the next few years.
Good luck Drew. Thanks for your service and continued success booting for the Bucks!

i wish drew basil all the best in his saturday games. and though i'm not a buckeye fan i'll be proud to tell everyone he hails from the seoal.
but, he was far from being the best..... as many have said he was maybe the only bright spot at chilli last season. LOGAN had more deserving, not to mention all of the unsung linemen in the league. golden from jackson, wandle from i-town etc.
