Re: CG schedule 2010
looks like cg found a qb for next yr. at the 7 on 7 scrimmage against ports. west this evening #4(sophomore) was lights out. don't know his name but sure did look good in the scrimmage. looked like west and cg both had talent at the skilled positions.

#4 is a great kid, but dont fool yourself, its the same old song and dance once the season starts. yes it does work against the weaker teams but no the power run doesnt work against Ohio's best. So again I'm saying be the best in the OVC congrats!!! but CG will never make a playoff run with the offense they run its outdated. And please dont give me stats becuase against playoff teams they get shut down.

Re: CG schedule 2010
So what you are saying is the power run doesn't work at all in Ohio, if I am hearing you right then you are saying Ironton's offense does not work because they are running a power running game.
Coal Grove's problem is not the offense, it's the way the offense is ran. It is the discipline of the players, last year was a really good team, but lacked discipline, we had seniors last year that at times just looked like they didn't care what happened. I have a better feeling about the team this year, and I don't see using a "power running game", we have to much quickness on this team to run up the middle all the time. Last year we had a more open offense and did great with it, so I see us trying to keep that up.

No thats not what im saying 2trap, Ironton can pass if need be and pass well. Ironton can run screens and run them well. When we get in a jam he goes to what he likes best and thats what he knows, power , and you cant run it when your down three or four touchdowns and how many times have you seen that happen.

I whached the Oak Hill game last year and the two fastest players on the field oakie haynes and boo woods were not in the game at the same time, now you have limited your threat. I think every coach that has successful playoff runs year in and year out there always looking to add some more offensive looks and please dont say we can pass the ball in 7 on 7 any team can

If anyone knows, can someone list the time for any other 7 on 7 scrimmage for the Grove.

Re: CG schedule 2010
thats why its so hard to talk to coal grove people because your talking out of both sides of your mouth. You said they lacked discipline who's fault is that? The whole school does!! you said they had an open offense maybe against weaker teams but not the good teams. Oak Hill shut them down easy and dont say it was because of the QB gettin hurt it was the game plan. 3-5 defense against Oak Hill thats a joke!!48 points they scored on the ovc conference champions. Like I said before you are content with the same old thing and believe me its going to get worse. Be content with the conference and sleep well during the playoffs.
Re: CG schedule 2010
I agree OVC_Champs 81. The schedule is tough! On the other hand, the Boys basketball team has a weak schedule...

Just to put and end to this, your saying Coal Grove should be ashamed for being OVC champs when Ironton just left a conference they knew they would never win. I will be happy with OVC champs and making playoffs, from where we had been I am pleased with where we are at now and where we are going.

CGHORNETS, I am not saying are schedule isn't tough, I believe it can be very difficult, my biggest problem is the travel for some of the away games, when there were schools closer to us that we should have reached out to for games.

tl895, which is always good, you don't get better by playing soft teams, I am not saying that the teams on our schedule are easy, I guess what I have been trying to say is how do the teams on our schedule make us better for playoffs.
