I seen West in week 2, so it has been a while. There still the best team I seen this year. As the year goes on some teams improve a little and some improve alot. Thats why we play the games.

I have seen Wheelersburg and West play and Wheelersburg is the best team I have seen this year. If Wheelersburg plays like they did against Minford, Wheelersburg will beat West convincingly.

Thinking of Division 4 All regions prior to last night, I would have said:St. Clairsville, Elyria Catholic, Kenton, Plain City Johnathon Alder, Clarksville Clinton Massie, Genoa Area, Hamilton Bishop Fenwick, Akron Manchester , Dayton Kettering Alter, Carlisle, & Cincy North college hill!!!
BUT, I know Elyria Catholic & St. Clairsville lost last night!!!
I strongly feel one of the teams playing for a state championship will be KENTON, CLARKSVILLE CLINTON MASSIE, & plain city Jonathon alder!!! all are in the same region & it's LOADED!! So, something has to give!!!
Massie is the only team to beat alder by a point, & Ottawa glandorf has lost 2 straight but handled
Kenton by 2 points!!! Defending state champs Dayton Ketterin Alter dwell there as well, with one loss @7th place!!


I think KENTON WILL TAKE THE STATE TROPHY & emerge out of region 16 after 3 hard
fought wins. Then just stomp right through any other regions champion by 21 points or more in a state final! Only way it doesn't happen is if Matty MAUK
gets injured as the star QB @ Kenton, which I would not wish for an injury to any player!!!

careful now. Football is about matchups. Wheelersburg knocked Minford off the football. They will not do that to Wests front 7. After Minford got down a couple TD's to Burg they quit, they played with their backs against the wall to West and played very hard.

Minford relies on speed to get the edge on Offense. Burg had a good plan. Especially moving Shankwieler to linebacker. He made alot of plays inside out. We played a half without our stud linebacker. Minford hit on a couple broken playes against West that they didn't against burg, but burg plays much more concervative in the secondary defending the pass. Really Minford never moved the ball on either team consistantly.

I think West will be too physical for Burg this year,Im a Fairland guy and we played both teams and West is WAYYY more physical than Burg!But with that said I think Burg has the better offensive player in Shankweiler and West has the better defensive player in Pendelton!

Sheridan. The first team D is still unscored on to this point and they have one of if not the best qb in this part of the state. They are the real deal.

in D-4, it's St. Clairsville
in D-3, it's Steubenville
in D-2, none
in D-1, Groveport-Madison

yes, I haven't seen a whole lot but what i seen was a few good'uns.

Steubenville wins the state in D-3 or at least makes the final 4.

St. Clairsville stubbed its toes and lost on road at Edison in 3 OTs, but they missed a chipshot 33-yd. field goal in one OT.

I have seen all of Portsmouth’s games,
1a.West is very good, and has a slew of backs to run at you or
1b. Chillicothe has been nasty since they blew PHS out. They are playing as good as anybody right now. I know they started out poor, but once Coach Hinton got the new system in place, and got through a murderous non league schedule they have been lights out.
3. Jackson just plays tough smart football
4. Burg when they played PHS it was the Schankwiler show. He is the team, but he is enough most nights. Think they will have trouble with passing attacks.
Honorable mention, Valley only saw them in scrimmage, but think they are pretty solid. Not fair for me to put them out there without seeing them in a real game.
Wilmington is apparently pretty tough, as they are now 5-2 with their only loses, coming to PHS, and a 20-27 loss to Cincinnati Turpin. Got to be tough to hang with Turpin, but they didn’t show it against the Trojans, or the Trojans played a great game one.
