AMEN, I THINK WE FUMBLED THE BALL, IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN 4 TIMES AGAINST ASHLAND LAST YEAR.pembrook burrows III wrote:In the game at Ashland in 2011, the penalty yards were:

My point here is not to say that Ironton lost in 2011 because of penalties; turnovers were the story in that game. The point is this: there is not that much difference in how the game is being called on either side of the river. If you get too focused on the refs, you don't focus on executing your gameplan. Ironton's fans have been just as guilty at times as Ashland (or any other team) in trying to blame the refs in defeat. Good teams can overcome their mistakes and even the referees' mistakes. Bob Lutz played over half of his games away from Tanks Memorial Stadium when you consider all of the playoffs, and he still won 381 games and 80% of the time. He let refs know if he didn't like a call, but he did not dwell upon it. He knew that if you constantly make excuses and create a "culture of crying", then you will never achieve championship caliber performance.
YOU HAVE TO ELIMINATE TURNOVERS, AND IT'S A PERFECT WAY TO LOSE A BALLGAME-------------WITH THAT SAID, THESE KIDS ARE 15-18 YEARS OLD, WE SEE THE SAME THING IN COLLEGE, AND THE NFL, WHAT MAKES US THINK THAT KIDS CAN'T.
AND FINALLY LETS HAVE A THREAD ABOUT IRONTON/ASHLAND AGAIN NEXT YEAR WHEN THEY PLAY, THE GAME IS OVER , BOTH HAD AMPLE OPPORTUNITIES TO BE THE WINNER.
