In terms of Vinton County's 3 "biggest" rivalries of their era..

Jack O'Rourke..

1-1 vs Jackson
2-4 vs Nelsonville York
6-0 vs Wellston

Matt Queen..

1-5 vs Jackson
3-4 vs Nelsonville York
4-3 vs Wellston

I know im a waterboy but really is this your first Quote? Get a program and look at the breakdown of the team by grade. We have Seniors who are freshmen because they have not played football since the 8th grade. We have 3 Freshmen starting or playing a lot of mins. because they are the best talent available right now. There are some kids out from other sports that have never played football and are helping. At least I dont recall seeing them on the field in the past couple of years or in the programs. The Vikes lost argueably their best running back before the season. Not only is he a good player but an on field 4 year senior leader. IMO there has been a lot of growth since last year even with the low # of players and the adversity the Vikes have had to endure. Not taking anything away from either of the above mentioned coaches but they didnt have to deal with todays kids. In the 80's and 90's kids didnt have cell phones, Xbox's, mp3's and everything else in today's society to occupy their time. It was all about sport. It was all about school spirit. It is different now. We live in a now society. I say give the guy a chance. If not as long as the two above mentioned coach's, at least as long as his predecessor.

To NYBUX: I dont know how you can say that no respect for coach bartrum, I dont see him teaching to hit or grab kids in the privates or tell kids to get there stud ass of the our field or tell a coach after a game that he will kick his f###### ass, If this is what it takes to earn respect from you all in NY, our what the teach in football WE DONT WANT NONE. You all have a very good football team but a couple nasty players, no more than your kids thats weres number #1. say no more.VERY NASTY and NO RESPECT FOR KIDS OR COACHES>

The things in which you talk were and are NEVER taught at NY.
As for my opinion of the current Meigs head coach I will not go into it on an open forum BUT,,,,,what I saw and heard from him at the Meigs vs NY 8th grade game influenced my current opinion of him and they are NOT very high...................

Coachs can only coach. If the kids dont execute then you dont win. If they are younger, less experienced, or a combination of both or they lack, or loose mental focus which can happen when you are young, or less experienced, kids dont execute then you loose. It doesn't matter if you run the wishbone or the spread. Again give the guy a fair chance.
