Region 17
Re: Region 17
It's a competitive region after Hartley, who is tough as nails. Look at some of the other regions and it isn't as tough or deep.

First power poll is out and the region has 4 of the top 10 in division 5.
1. Hartley
3. Wheelersburg
5. St. Clairsville
9. Liberty Union
And that's not counting Ironton or Martins Ferry
This is a good region

Are the records at the top of the page correct? If so only 7 teams in the entire region posted winning records for '12. That is an interesting stat.

I pulled them from Joe Eitel's page. They are correct as listed. I forgot to note that. I have edited and added the reference.BB #26 wrote:Are the records at the top of the page correct? If so only 7 teams in the entire region posted winning records for '12. That is an interesting stat.

Lots of people on here seem to be giving Ironton the automatic pass into Week 11. Tough schedule and lots of questionmarks...

If Ironton were to loose to Wheelersburg. They may have a tough time getting infuzzhead wrote:Lots of people on here seem to be giving Ironton the automatic pass into Week 11. Tough schedule and lots of questionmarks...

Re: Region 17
I would be more concerned for Wheelersburg if they were to lose this game. Normally I would say it's a coin toss but I have to give a big edge to Wheelersburg this year. Best of luck to both squads! Game 1 is getting closer!
Re: Region 17
Ironton maybe looking a 7-3 record and if so they may not make it in the playoffs.
That makes the Wheelersburg game that much more important for Ironton.
Irontons schedule is a tough one but if they can beat Ashland Johnson Central that will be a great boost in points be a interesting year for sure.

No chance! If Ironton is 7-3 they will threaten a home game. Hartley, St. Clairsville, and LU should be right there, but if Ironton wins week 1, they will be right with Burg for a home game.
My preseason top 8:
Hartley
St. Clairsville
Liberty Union
Martins Ferry
Wheelersburg
Ironton
Westfall
West
Re: Region 17
Ironton will get a ton of points from Raceland. That was a smart scheduling on irontons' part.

Re: Region 17
I can't see Ironton going 7-3. 6-4 or 5-5 is more realistic. Hope I'm wrong. On the bright side even the "easy" games on Ironton's schedule are good for points.
Re: Region 17
Wheelersburg will be a closer game I think than most think it will be a toss up.
The Columbus teams will prob be losses with maybe a chance to beat St. Charles and I believe ashland will be a tight game and I think Ironton will beat Johnson Central. SO 7-3 is possible. But Ironton does need to tackle better and focus on one game at a time.

Re: Region 17
Interesting stat on Region 17 teams. Region 17 teams only went 12-15 in the first week of play. Now 4 of those wins and 4 of those loses were when eight teams from Region 17 played each other. So in games where Region 17 teams played teams from other Regions, Region 17 was 8-11. A lot of talk during the summer was how tough the region is. It will be interesting to see how the Region plays out.
Re: Region 17
After the 1st week of football there are 12 teams that are 1-0 in this region. Joe Eitel has it updated. I know its early............
Re: Region 17
While I do think that most of the teams that can make the top 8 are in those 12, so are Waverly, Southeastern, and South Point....way too early...then what wrote:After the 1st week of football there are 12 teams that are 1-0 in this region. Joe Eitel has it updated. I know its early............

Re: Region 17
Week 2 was a little better for Region 17 teams. Overal record for Region 17 teams this week was 13-14. Three of those wins and three of those losses were against other Region 17 teams. So Region 17 went 10-11 against teams from other Regions. So after two weeks Region 17 is 18-22 against teams from other Regions. It will be interesting to see how the next few weeks play out. It should be fun.
