This is one of the best match-ups in southern Ohio this weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing the results and just how this plays out. I'm predicting a rather low scoring affair.

Can we expect Amanda to bring a big crowd?

“Big” is a relative term. They’ll bring fans. You’ll see the typical amount of grandparents and extended family members willing to make the hour drive on a beautiful, not hot week 2 Friday night. 15-20 years ago, Amanda would’ve brought more fans than what Unioto would tonight. Not a slight against Unioto, but rather a testament to how well the A-C community would’ve travelled. You’d have seen 100-200 adults with no current connection to the team make the trek down 159, then. They loved the Aces. They still do, but Amanda/SW Fairfield County is a lot older and poorer than it was then. Not as many people these days, in any community, willing to make that trip unless they have a family member playing.

Next year, Unioto can expect “The Pit” to be filled out on their return trip. Their crowd size will be respectable. Not outrageously big or pitifully small.

I hope what I’m trying to say makes sense.

It will be a big crowd for a Unioto game. By your reasoning which is sound no games are big down here maybe ironton burg.

I’m assuming crowd was referring to regular season Unioto game. Last year at pv was good crowd and first time we played waverly at home 2016 I think that was biggest crowd at one of our home games I’ve seen. Expect similar size tonight.

Yeah, what I’m saying is back in the heyday of Amanda football the Ace faithful would’ve spilled into the home stands. Wouldn’t matter if it was Baltimore, OH or Baltimore, MD. Unioto will have way more fans of course, and I expect a packed joint — my point was more so that Amanda’s fan following may not meet the expectation some people may still have of AC as a fanbase 15-20 years ago.

I understand your thoughts. Upstate South Carolina is littered with 5,000 plus seat stadiums that are 70% empty on Friday night's. The crowds now are the one's with direct ties to the team, cheerleaders or band. General community support as in even 15 years ago is vanishing due to ever changing demographics and economics. Throw in Facebook and YouTube live streaming becoming commonplace, why go to the game? Of course there are exceptions, but Friday Night Lights is not what it once was.

Looks like another tough one for Unioto to start off the season, love the improved out of conference schedule. However, I think the Aces will be just to much for unioto aces by 3 scores 34-13. Unfortunately for Unioto even though you can only take 1 game at a time each of these non-conference games are huge given they've moved in DIII region 11. Just a tough region when you look at last years 8 seed, Athens finishing 9-1 with 19 computers points.

I feel it is better to make the playoffs on merits and not on schedule. If we get in this year then we earned it.

Didn't earn it the other years?? Never mentioned schedule, other than the fact i loved the improvement on it, just the toughness of the region in that it'll take more points than years past. Also said winning these non conference games was huge in terms of making the points you need. As this year SVC play points won't be enough.
