Re: WK3 Parkersburg South vs Athens
We need to establish the run to run more clock. Our defense is pretty good. South is bigger than Jackson so will be a tall task to win the time of possession
Re: Parkersburg South vs Athens
216 or 416, whichever number you want to use since you did state 1000-1200

Re: Parkersburg South vs Athens
Yep, there's that spin.FANOSPORTS wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 6:24 pmAre you referencing Canal ? If so, they are in what I call the "starter division" (Occ Capital) which is the weakest of the 5 divisions . The OCC will restructure again next year (2020) so it will be more balanced and they will be called A,B,C,D and E to make it easier than having to name them every time they add teams.Raider6309 wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 5:58 pmAthens got dropped by a 9-1 OCC school. I’m sure you would spin it in saying the OCC sucks and Athens should play St Ed

Re: Parkersburg South vs Athens
No spin there, check out the schools in each division and the proofs in the pudding . No comparison , Groveport, Franklin Hts, Newark have a decent season once every 10 years. Canal was in the MSL for many decades until they grew so much SO quickly that their AD thought it would be a good idea to go compete with the big boys and that hasn't worked out to well so far. New Albany and Big Walnut are newer members that grew rapidly also and have made the playoffs a few times in the past but aren't close to being powers. Big Walnut did win the 2007 DIII title with the one great team they had but there is no comparison with the other divisions in the OCC.6-4-3=2o wrote: Sun Sep 08, 2019 5:23 pmYep, there's that spin.FANOSPORTS wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 6:24 pmAre you referencing Canal ? Spin, as in, you spun the conversation to fit a narrative that you wanted by dogging the OCC "starter division", implying that because they are said starter division that they're clearly weak. You clearly hate Athens and you did exactly as Raider stated you would do.
By the way, I'm familiar with the OCC, played in it as a Chillicothe Cavalier back in the late 80's, early 90's. And according to my amateur research, CW had 1100 students last year. What on earth were they scheduling the smaller Athens for anyway

As for the game, I'll make a prediction later in the week, but I believe the Bulldogs will come out on top.

Need to gets Ed R Forshey opinion on this one. He was pretty dead on last year. South comes in as the #1 WV team with 13 points

Re: WK3 Parkersburg South vs Athens
Central Ohio's population boom in the last 30 years has created havoc on the school's in the area along with creating about 15 or 16 completely new schools in that timeframe. Canal has growing pains and are still trying to catch up athletically because in the last 30 years they went from a D5 village school to a large DII now and they'll eventually be DI in a couple more years. They still can't play with or win games against the OCC's traditional powers, That's why the were put in the Capital division. It's gonna take a long time for them to get to that level which they may never do in my lifetime. They still don't have one building as tall as many in Chilly or Athens, they're not a county seat, they have have about 6 businesses in the old part of town, still plenty of farmers on the outskirts and they still have a country village mentality and have many SEO transplants living there. They joined the OCC in the 2013-14 school year so they probably scheduled Athens before they entered the conference then had to cancel it after they joined is my guess but don't know for sure.6-4-3=2o wrote: Sun Sep 08, 2019 6:08 pm Spin, as in, you spun the conversation to fit a narrative that you wanted by dogging the OCC "starter division", implying that because they are said starter division that they're clearly weak. Athens played Canal in 2016 and 2017. They cancelled for 2018 and 2019 to play and beat the new Olentangy for their non league game. So happy they went 9-1 and missed the playoffs

Anyway, the Cardinal is the weakest and I can't help it that Canal knocked Athens out of the playoffs in 2016 & 2017Raider6309 wrote: Sun Sep 08, 2019 7:10 pm Fan this is painful to explain things to. I don't know anything about Parkersburg South, but can you say with certainty that just because they are a smaller school, size really matters that much. Athens is twice as big a school as Waverly if those numbers are correct.Dundas wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 5:51 pmThat’s boys and girls 9-12. Wow
This is going to be a beatdown.
I cant believe Athens even scheduled this team.

We have a little over 700. Ohsaa has Athens 313 and Waverly 250. We are in the same division in most sportsold benchwarmer wrote: Sun Sep 08, 2019 10:17 pm I don't know anything about Parkersburg South, but can you say with certainty that just because they are a smaller school, size really matters that much. Re: Parkersburg South vs Athens
That was a guess on total enrollment. Boys and girls grades 9-12. Parkersburg South has 1500 total kids. Athens has almost 800. These aren’t football numbers which are only boys grades 9-11.old benchwarmer wrote: Sun Sep 08, 2019 10:17 pmI don't know anything about Parkersburg South, but can you say with certainty that just because they are a smaller school, size really matters that much. Spare me, Canal Winchester went 6-34 before being moved to the OCC's weakest division by far. Last year, Canal Winchester's nine wins came against teams which went a combined 29-61.Raider6309 wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 5:58 pmAthens got dropped by a 9-1 OCC school. Trying to get easy playoff points. Same reason they schedule Teays Valley, although it almost came back to bite them last year.6-4-3=2o wrote: Sun Sep 08, 2019 6:08 pm Spin, as in, you spun the conversation to fit a narrative that you wanted by dogging the OCC "starter division", implying that because they are said starter division that they're clearly weak. Re: WK3 Parkersburg South vs Athens
Almost sounds like Athens, except Canal Winchester went to a better conference and Athens went to one with a bunch of schools two or three divisions smaller than they are. Cut-and-run.Raider6309 wrote: Sun Sep 08, 2019 7:10 pm Athens played Canal in 2016 and 2017. They cancelled for 2018 and 2019 to play and beat the new Olentangy for their non league game.
