Once you realize why certain areas hate Athens, you start to view it as sad. Logan has been devastated by no jobs so they view Athens as privileged people because they think all the jobs are professors, doctors, and engineers. We are poor Rutters too

I'm much more worried about the anti-vaxxer hippies infecting all of the Hocking Valley.Raider6309 wrote: Thu Oct 31, 2019 11:23 amOnce you realize why certain areas hate Athens, you start to view it as sad. You are ignoring three major points in your tear filled rant against Athens. First, Logan has their own drug, and poverty issues. Second, while I agree with you that Athens held the SEOAL together and it faltered only after their departure, they have since been to the state finals in football while Logan was sitting at home crying about Athens leaving. Finally, Logan is desperate to get in the same league with Athens "to play much weaker teams in a county league."Paladin wrote: Thu Oct 31, 2019 1:54 pm There is a big difference between Logan and Athens.
Logan is considered a bedroom community with many residents commuting to Lancaster and Columbus suburbs for work. Reasonable cost of living. Stable population. Not many problems.
Athens is considered hard core Appalachia, and even with the college has high unemployment rates, lots of poverty, high VD rates, rampant drug use and a downtown that faces multiple student outbursts that produce property damage, public drunkenness, fires to public property and civil disobedience. High taxes and cost of living. Charming town but beset with human tragedy.
Oh and Logan regularly stomps Athens in football, so much that the pups ran from a Regional league with the Chiefs to play much weaker teams in a county league.
