2023
Week 1
Fort Frye @ Marietta
Game we’ve asked for forever.
I’m so happy I miss the PVC but Fort Frye has got to play teams that make games so much more exciting.
Also I’ve enjoyed the Williamstown series. So glad they realized play Fort Frye prepares them for WV State playoffs.

Marietta is going right thing with scheduling. Win some games get the school excited for football then more players will come out for the team.

Fort Frye has passing scrimmages vs Marietta and Morgan next week.

That's what I heard too. I agree that it makes the most sense to do as well. He is a fantastic athlete and hopefully he can stay healthy and finish his senior year strong!EasternDspy wrote: Thu Jul 14, 2022 1:18 pmHe was really good for never playing defense. Downtown Owen Brown moving to safety and I think he will excel at the position.Muskie740 wrote: Thu Jul 14, 2022 11:13 am Ellis was a great qb, but I think losing him at safety hurts more. He was absolutely amazing on the backside and contributed to the hard nosed attitude of the defense.

I’ve never known Marietta to be a force or on top even when they were in the SEOAL. If they were it had to be way before my time ha.

If Warren can piece together a line up front, they will remove that “easy” label. They have a very deep group of skilled players. Might be a year away, but I wouldn’t take them lightly this year.redblue85 wrote: Thu Jul 14, 2022 4:17 pmthey have to schedule up because many of the schools there size wont play them around here. Caldwell and Waterford are the only ones that will. Shenandoah, Monroe Central, River, Belpre should all be on their schedule, but run from FF. Marietta will start playing them next year which is nice. But this year, only easy games on the schedule will be Warren, Caldwell, and Logan. Everyone else is capable of giving the Cadets a good game. Linsly normally has athletes galore.Picket Fence wrote: Thu Jul 14, 2022 2:38 pm I like what Fort Frye is doing. They are scheduling up. I truly think most small school teams should do that if they think they will have a good chance of competing for regional and state titles. Realistically, Fort Frye should be thinking about playing in the regionals every year & their schedule reflects that.to the AD and coaches

Why would Belpre want to play FF right now? That would do no good for either team. Also if the teams you mentioned were on FF's schedule instead of who they are playing I doubt FF would be doing as well in the post season as they are. Playing a tough schedule has made them better than a soft schedule ever could IMO.Notsofastmyfriend wrote: Fri Jul 15, 2022 8:30 amIf Warren can piece together a line up front, they will remove that “easy” label. Re: Washington County Football 2022
I think Belpre vs Fort Frye could be a money thing. Bellaire was only a 1 year contract and Fort Frye has struggled to find teams to play. They couldn’t tell Belpre no. From what I hear Belpre really never wanted to drop Fort Frye that it was mostly done by a former coach.
Re: Washington County Football 2022
Marietta has had some good teams. Never said anything about being a force or on top. When they left the SEOAL they might have played .500 ball. Most of the time they were always in the game.countywide35 wrote: Fri Jul 15, 2022 4:22 am

Sounds like Warren competed at a 7x7 at Ironton this past Saturday, not sure how that went.

Re: Washington County Football 2022
Everything I heard was that it went very good. Got beat by Ironton but competed well against them (they were minus their top 2 receivers but still encouraging to compete with them). Beat Portsmouth West I believe. Linemen competed very well in their challenges too. Heard it was a very positive day overall.Whs95fan wrote: Sun Jul 17, 2022 11:10 pm Sounds like Warren competed at a 7x7 at Ironton this past Saturday, not sure how that went.

A buddy I talked to said Warren more than held their own at Ironton. Should be a good stepping stone to gauge what they are capable of doing.beg003 wrote: Mon Jul 18, 2022 9:26 amEverything I heard was that it went very good. Re: Washington County Football 2022
Strahler, Cressey, and Fairbanks all had very good days defensively. All three are sophomores so it’s very encouraging to see them have that kind of success against two good teams with above average high school skill position players.Notsofastmyfriend wrote: Mon Jul 18, 2022 9:53 amA buddy I talked to said Warren more than held their own at Ironton. Ironton scored 4-5 TDs against Warren and I’m pretty sure Warren didn’t score on Ironton varsity. Ironton was without UC commit Ty Perkins at WR and UK Offer kid Pittman at the other WR position.
Ironton also swept the the Lineman challenge from what I was told. Ironton won every event.
Warren vs West was a good matchup though.

Re: Washington County Football 2022
My only point was it was more competitive than what I expected. If Ironton wanted to really destroy us in a 7v7, they most certainly could and would. It’s two teams on totally different levels, but there were some encouraging things for us against both teams. Good luck to Ironton this year.XandOs wrote: Mon Jul 18, 2022 11:43 amIronton scored 4-5 TDs against Warren and I’m pretty sure Warren didn’t score on Ironton varsity.
