Agree a little with both posts. (With Athens size, resources and location they've got the best of both world's and they like being the "big dog" and it ain't gonna happen. They walked away from schools their size and the TVC brethren should flip the switch on them a give them the boot but that won't happen either).Poo Bear wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 2:40 pmNot gonna happen.Dundas wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 2:31 pm Athens has played a handful of old Seoal schools the last few years. The results are mixed. They’ve beaten Logan by 7, lost to Jackson by 5. They’ve played gallia years ago with some success. Athens will steamroll through the TVC again this year and it’s becoming clearer and clearer that they just have too many resources for the rest of the TVC Ohio to compete on a regular basis. It’s not going to be long before something changes. Either on the Athens end, or the TVC’s.

Re: Final: Jackson 31 Athens 26
Hope you guys realize Athens has 5 8th grade football players, basically had to cancel its games/season.
Athens has no freshmen team. Were even contemplating not playing a JV schedule because the varsity backups are only available bodies.
Since Athens joined the TVC, Nelsonville-York has just as many TVC-Ohio titles, it has been far from domination.
Wheelersburg, Tri Valey and Trimble have FAR MORE dominated their conferences than Athens has the Ohio Division.
Resources, money or whatever can't buy success or a football team. Athens has a 44 man roster this year (9-12), Nelsonville-York has 50 players!
I remember Colonel Crawford strolling into Glouster with their nice greyhound buses and fancy cars, they appeared to have plenty of "resources" ,,, then I watched them get their A** kicked up and down the field by the Tomcats.

Re: Final: Jackson 31 Athens 26
Athens would join the FAC but once Athens won every sport. The FAC would dissolve and make a new league. That sounds familiar hmmmmmm

Re: Final: Jackson 31 Athens 26
No worries that would probably take atleast 15-20 years ...I mean it’s not every year OU gets and a new coach with kids.Raider6309 wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 4:07 pm Athens would join the FAC but once Athens won every sport. Re: Final: Jackson 31 Athens 26
The MVL rectified what problems they had by splitting into divisions finally but Tri-Valley, Sheridan, Maysville, John Glenn, New Lex and Philo have been a lot closer in size and state divisions over the years than the TVC Ohio in the last 10 years. Wheelersburg and Trimble are in conferences with the same size or bigger schools and they are top dogs because of their "systems", not because they are 2 or 3 divisions bigger in population and school numbers size. Just sayin !!!!!93Bulldog wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 3:19 pm Hope you guys realize Athens has 5 8th grade football players, basically had to cancel its games/season.

Enrollment doesn't mean squat if you only have 44 football players in your entire school!
Nelsonville-york has more players than Athens.

Next year. The big school division features Tri-Valley, Sheridan, Philo, Maysville, John Glenn and River View, while the small school division is Coshocton, Meadowbrook, New Lex, West Muskingum, Crooksville and Morgan.93Bulldog wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 5:32 pm Since when did the MVL split?

Fan has an extreme hatred for Athens. He’s trying to spin everything to hate on Athens. The MVL only expanded because a league is dying, the ECOL. Hard to say the expansion is a good idea yet

I think Athens has 44 XC runners....and good too93Bulldog wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 5:39 pm Enrollment doesn't mean squat if you only have 44 football players in your entire school!

Re: Final: Jackson 31 Athens 26
It does when you have twice as many kids to choose those 44 players from. It’s not just football. I did the math a while back and it was somewhere around 80% of the TVC championships in every sport (since 2008) have been won by Athens. And, when Athens doesn’t win a championship, you can almost guarantee that they finish 2nd or 3rd in that sport. The TVC split in 1993 because Meigs, VC, NY, Belpre, and Wellston had just outgrew Miller, Fed Hock, Trimble, etc. It’s not just football, it’s everything else included.93Bulldog wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 5:39 pm Enrollment doesn't mean squat if you only have 44 football players in your entire school!

I just watched Pitt beat Ohio University. A weak ACC team beat the (preseason predicted) best team in the MAC. This happens every year in college and it’s no different in high school football. Speaking in terms of the old Seoal vs the TVC, a mid to lower Seoal school would beat the best in the TVC. Mainly because of size. And Athens has proven that over the last decade +.

I can’t believe we are still complaining about Athens being in the league
