WK6 Minford 16 Wheelersburg 15 SOC II
Re: Wheelersburg 4-1 @ Minford 4-1
West?? Who cares! They are a joke this year. They have one player who is very good, but hit and miss with no help from the rest of his team.
MINFORD..... shouldn't be a game!
They do have a few advantages though....
1-They just lost and want to redeem themselves just as we did after the Ironton game.
2- We think we can no longer be stopped.
3- At Minford.
BURG does have one BIG advantage...
1- Way better team.
Game of the week for sure.

They can't stand the fact that they aren't the top dogs this year so they have to interject West into every SOCII thread. It's pathetic. The best thing that could happen would be for Waverly, Valley, and Wheelersburg to all beat them and shut them up.

You are kidding about the best back right. Pendleton might be the best player ever in scioto county. Remember he ran over burg last year as a sophmore.[/quote]
You have got to be joking, he ain't the best back in Portsmouth West's history!! Let alone in SOC II history, or Scioto County.
Some of the backs have already been mentioned, that were better. If you get your record books out, you will see that there was some great backs all over Scioto Co. all through the 80's and the 90's.
This is the Minford vs The Burg thread,
I hope this will be a great game. I say hope, because, I don't know which Minford team will show up. We really had a big let down last night. Hopefully that's what we needed to get fired up for The Burg.
I think Minford has alot of talent, and can play with anybody in the league. They just don't always play like it. Minford hasn't played a good four quarters yet. At times they can be unstoppable, but at other times they look like they are lost. If they can put it all together, they will give The Burg all they want.
I don't think Minford will be able to stop The Burg from scoring, but, I don't think The Burg can stop them when they are running on all 8 cylinders. Minford has alot of weapons, and when they are on, they are very hard to stop.
I am going to say this, that if my Falcons are going to win, they will have to score at least 4 touchdowns. Because I don't think they can keep The Burg below 2 touchdowns.

How many state championships does logan have?
As far as the backs.
Pendelton is a Eli Parkes clone with a little less speed. Great durable back and tough to bring down.
Shank has deceptive football speed. He has the best field vision I have ever seen at the high school level.
Both are great backs that will play on Sat if they want to.
Burg 28
Minford 20
GO Burg!

yeah why don't you go post on Logan threads and stay off burgs.
Pendleton isn't anywhere close to being the best. I would consider schankweiler before him.

And that loss was to a DI school with a 3-2 record and they still scored 24 points on them. Why don't you crawl back under that rock they let you our from under and stay off Burg threads. Let's see who goes deeper in the playoffs. A school from our area or Logan. I say Ironton or Burg go farther than than Chefs.

Re: WK6 (4-1) Wheelersburg @ (4-1) Minford SOC2
Little note that WSAZ threw out on FRiday night. Burg avg.(ing) over 50 points a week since the Ironton game.
Thats OFFENSE!! DEFENSE is stellar also. Maybe not the pass DEF so much but still Good!
West, Minford, Waverly, and Valley, You will see. Get your offense some popcorn, cause they will keep you off the field

I'm not saying Pendleton to be the best ever, or the best in the past ten years (Jojo Parker, Eli Parkes, Jerrod Pendleton), hes really good, and could be the best after its all said in done...now taking anything away from Brandon Shankweiler, but seriously? Just for a second take out the Burg-West rivalry, I'm just talking to you as a football fan, and comparing the two running backs from an intangible, physicial, and mental standpoint. If you would take Shankweiler over Pendleton tell me why? Not being smart just curious...you can pm if you want, I'm not trying to make this a West forum
Anyway, my aplogies about that...I really thought coming into this year that team this was similar to that 2000 team, they have a lot of seniors and are led by a really good running back in Slone...but after I watched them play Oak Hill I don't know if they could do it from a mental standpoint...they let Westen Hale (who's one of the best backs around)run all over them, and Oak Hill's line push them all over the field, theres a point as a player, espicially as a player on a team that is looking to go undeafeated...This week they are going against a better burg team...is Burg a lot better than Oak Hill, I don't think so, I think Burg is maybe a score or two better, but not a lot, but Burg has two backs, a quarterback (which can run), and a very solid veteran line to stop...I just think its too much...I'll have to take Burg 21-7

Re: WK6 (4-1) Wheelersburg @ (4-1) Minford SOC2
Just as a football fan I would rather have Brandon Schankwiler, because he has unbelievable breakaway speed and field vision. Pendleton is good but he gets a lot of carries to rack up all those yards. I say he is more durable then Schankwiler, but Burg has so many other options he doesn’t have to carry it 20 times a game. If he did he would probably end up with 200 or more yards a game. Plan and simple Schank is amazing.
As for Pendleton, being the best back ever, he isn’t even close. Guys just from PHS that he isn’t as good as JoJo Parker, Akia Brown, Mike Parker, Jeremiah Bolden, Jeremy Hamrick, and Boomer Reed. I personally don’t think Pendleton is as good of a back as Jeremiah Lens was for West. He is still just a junior, but he would have to really do something amazing to be one of the best ever. Not a knock on him, there have just been a lot of good backs from Scioto county,
As far as the Burg and Minford game( what this topic is actually about) I think the Burg wins this one by as much as they want. Burg just has to much speed and way to many weapons. Minford’s best win has been against a Coal Grove team that I think may be over rated. After all the Hornets had a less then impressive 2 score win over a Greenup county team that Notre Dame took to the wire in week 2. Bottom line is Burg is not Coal Grove, or Oak Hill.

Minford let me down last week , Not that Oak Hill won I wish them all the Luck this year . I just thought Minford was better.
Good Luck & Good Health to both teams ,but the Burg will be too much in the end.
Wheelersburg is primed this year for a long playoff run IMO.
I hope to see them @ Alumni stadium.

All this talk about West's back is making me sick, this is about the Wheelersburg vs Minford game.
I know what why don't you go to crybaby. com and talk about all the old backs in Scioto Co.
We will know he's the best ever when we are watching him on Sunday's.
And if you think one is the best, just wait, they will play a game against each other, I promise!!!
So let it go man!!!

Re: WK6 (4-1) Wheelersburg @ (4-1) Minford SOC2
I think that Minford had better reach down and get a pack check before they strap it up this week. The Burg is for real, and they come to win, and beat you badly. I watched two Burg games this year, and I saw two Burg teams this year...against Ironton they looked dazed and confused, but against VASJ they had their sights adjusted and were laying the wood on people. So if Minford wants to win this game they are going to have find the fire that they had up at CG and play all 4 quarters as if it were their last.

Will you people stop and think for a second about yards per carry. I wonder who's leading the area? How about yards per game? Pendleton is the best back in the soc and the county. He's doing all this with a young line who's had problems all year and facing 9-10 guys in th box. I've seen the burg play thier line is alot better and they have more weapons than west so it's easier to run the ball.IMO Craigmiles is the best back on the team but he's not in the click .
Re: WK6 (4-1) Wheelersburg @ (4-1) Minford SOC2
Schankweiler is very quick and is very smart and can see the field better than anyone around. The only reason Pendleton's stats are so high is because they hand the ball off to him a lot more because they HAVE to this year. I would take Schank over Pendleton. IMO
but about the game and to get west's fans off our thread.. i say burg by 2 touchdowns

Re: WK6 (4-1) Wheelersburg @ (4-1) Minford SOC2
Wheelersburg is too fast in their front 7 to go sideline to sideline, which is what Minford tries to do on those counters. Burg may overpursue some and it work, but it won't work consistant enough to win the game. I haven't seen Minford this year, but I've seen Burg and the only thing to do is go right at them. Their D-line is not real big. Cut down the splits and go right at them and negate the speed. From what I've heard though, Minford doesn't have the horses up front.
As for the West stuff, I made a post trying to raz Demaniac after I asked if Burg could be peaking too soon like West did last year. How that turned into who has the best RB is beyond me.
