Warren, Marietta, Parkersburg and p south are within 20 minutes of each other. They are about an hour from Point.

Re: Point Pleasant (WV) to the TVC or OVC?
Athens has scrimmaged Ripley before and they are pretty bad. WV playoff system is a joke so I highly doubt Point would play real teams. Beating a 0-10 D1 school is the same as beating a 9-1 D1 school lol

Would love to have point in a revamped Seoal

As far as I know, Point is independent as to conference. The AA conference in SW WV, the Cardinal, stretches from Kanawha County to Wayne County down to Mingo County. Horrible travel distances and few natural rivals, so that is not really appealing. Besides, conferences in WV are more for scheduling convenience rather than rivalry and tradition. Pt. Pleasant shares the same boat as Jackson, they are looking for a home. Looking towards Ohio is logical for them, but they face the problems of different length of football season and rule packages. They were in the SEOAL a few years ago but left. I doubt any league in Ohio would take them. The SEOAL just needs to die with dignity.

An 0-10 D-1 school would be worth 12 points in WV.Raider6309 wrote:Beating a 0-10 D1 school is the same as beating a 9-1 D1 school lol
A 9-1 d-1 school would be worth 21 points in WV (assuming they beat all teams in their class).
Not the 'same'...
Re: Point Pleasant (WV) to the TVC or OVC?
Agreed. I was told that they applied to the Cardinal Confrence now that they're AA again along with 4 other teams. The Confrence only took 3 of them and Pt. Pleasant was not one.Omega wrote:1906 wrote:point must have been denied in the AA league in west virginia

I stand corrected but in West Virginia beating a terrible Gallia team is 13 points and Max out is 21. In Ohio Gallia is worth 10 points and Max out is about 50 points.Gobigblacks wrote:An 0-10 D-1 school would be worth 12 points in WV.Raider6309 wrote:Beating a 0-10 D1 school is the same as beating a 9-1 D1 school lol

Re: Point Pleasant (WV) to the TVC or OVC?
To answer the Point Pleasant question posed by the topic, TVC or OVC, I think two chances apply in the TVC question, zero and very slim. With respect to the OVC I think the only chance there is if the OVC members try and do something perhaps with Jackson and create two divisions. I just don't think that will be very popular with the current members though, and at the end of the day the OVC will not be an option.
The OVC just added Portsmouth and Ironton and their members are probably more than content to see how that works out and that is a very reasonable position any league would take before adding any more members.
But Point Pleasant needing a home is probably the best news Jackson has had, either for perhaps joining the SEOAL and breathing some life into it and the three teams that remain or some long shot scenario with the OVC.
Just my two cents.

Re: Point Pleasant (WV) to the TVC or OVC?
Beating 10 1-9 AAA teams in WV is 13 points in WV which was Points average(13.4) this year and gave them a #2 seed out of 16. West Virginia needs to update their system
But that's an entirely different topic. I'd like an 8th member in the TVC but the TVC doesn't want to expand

Gallia was not worth 13 points. I don't think you know how the system works.

Re: Point Pleasant (WV) to the TVC or OVC?
I just thought Gallia was AAA since Point is AAA but forgot Gallia dropped to D4 and point is D3 in Ohio. So it's 9 or 10 points since AAA beat a AA.Gobigblacks wrote:Gallia was not worth 13 points. I don't think you know how the system works.

Gobigblack I assume you are a Point fan by your username.
Can you elaborate on why Point joined then left the SEOAL last time and if you think there would be any renewed interest again or are they simply looking at the TVC or OVC as an option.

They fit perfectly for what the Seoal stands for

Re: Point Pleasant (WV) to the TVC or OVC?
Point Pleasant is a similar size to Jackson I think, and is considered D3. Parkersburg South might be a little bit bigger than Logan, but they're still D2. Parkersburg is probably one of the largest schools in the state of West Virginia and is D1. And my guess why Point Pleasant left the SEOAL would be because in their time in the SEOAL, they went 26-28 in conference play and no league titles in Football. This was when the league was Athens, Gallia Academy, Jackson, Logan, Marietta, Point Pleasant, and Warren, and Point Pleasant had joined to replace River Valley.

Here's an article on that, the 7 members voted 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th of the 5 schools who applied and took the top 3, Point Pleasant was 5th.

Re: Point Pleasant (WV) to the TVC or OVC?
We didn't replace RV in the SEOAL. They were in the league most of the time we were in it except just the last few years.
I assume we left because we were accepted into the Cardinal and we went to AA at the time so we didn't have to play the bigger schools to meet playoff requirements. We went back to AAA (even though we got smaller) so we had to leave the Cardinal and have been independent since.

Re: Point Pleasant (WV) to the TVC or OVC?
RV joined in 1994 and Point in 1996. Point just ran into the greatest Logan and Jackson teams ever. Point was pretty good but the SEOAL good at that time
