He took Athens to its first regional game in 50 years. Burrow's freshman year Athens was 11-9. Next two years Athens was loaded. Hard to be a state power in football and basketball in the bigger divisions. Ibi talent wise has the highest ceiling of any player I've seen from this area

I don't want to say never, but there would need to be some pretty real and extensive extenuating circumstances.
But for COACHES, we have put in a number of non-graduate coaches. Dale Amyx (football), Gary Swinehart (boys basketball), and Ralph Taylor (girls basketball) to name three.
Step Dad??? Not quite, boyfriend maybe, but his mother is not married. They are from my neck of the woods and been pretty close to the family from their Marietta days.

Bottom line is if a guy is successful, popular or rich enough he'll be in a HS Hall of Fame no matter what. In all honesty it's a High School Hall of Fame, who really cares.

Yes they are not married. I have a relative that works with her. But he's actually a lot better at Pickerington central. A lot more competition and knowledge of every aspect of the gamethebarlowbandit wrote: Step Dad??? Not quite, boyfriend maybe, but his mother is not married. Pick Central is probably the only school I dislike more than Athens, LOLRaider6309 wrote:Yes they are not married. I have a relative that works with her. But Ibi is doing great. I live in Hilliard so I follow the OCC quite a bit. Hoping that Westerville South and Pick Central meet in a District Final or in the Regional.

ty simmons played at ohio uloganlocos wrote:Donnie Johnson's senior year was probably the single greatest individual season I have seen by anyone in the SEOAL. Grant was GREAT. Truly Great. But couldn't take over game's like Donnie could in their offense his senior season. Honestly, Athens probably had a better supporting cast than Donnie had in 2003 (Hewitt, Sebring, Mingus, Wren, Roberts).Raider6309 wrote:Ironman92 wrote:Who got it over him?
jared humphreys and Donnie Johnson. They were good high school football players but Grant was on another level. 4500 yards passing 41 touchdowns, 1200 yards rushing 21 touchdowns, 240 tackles, 10 interceptions, in 3 years. MVP of the north south game
The league was absolutely loaded with individual talent in '02 and '03. Grant Gregory was 9-10 overall in the league as a starter.
Gregory (QB at South Florida/Kansas State)
Humphreys (baseball at Kent State)
Johnson (QB at Tiffin (D2)
Austin Rohr (RB, Logan) - Still the best RB for Logan in the last 20 years IMO. Averaged over 200 yards per game in the league, ran track at OSU)
From '02:
Ty Simmons (played at Marshall)
Tyler Kelly (Marietta, should have been league MVP IMO)
jt spencer-Howell played at morehead st both played high school ball at gahs

Student "A" plays 3 years of varsity sports at All-America High School & sets all kinds of records on "so-so" teams & transfers for his senior season for various(some could be athletic) reasons.
Student "B" transfers IN to All-World High School as a junior and sets a few records in various sports and leads his team to the state tournament.
Which student gets into your Hall of Fame? Or does either?

I understand the sentiment and either one would have been a great choice, but Donnie definitely deserved to be player of the year that year. He literally could not be stopped in league play. If only he could had suited up for the Raiders......... but that's another story and nobody can blame him for playing at the Academy.loganlocos wrote:Donnie Johnson's senior year was probably the single greatest individual season I have seen by anyone in the SEOAL.
