Week 8: Athens (7-0) vs Alexander (6-1)
Re: Week 8: Athens (7-0) vs Alexander (6-1)
BRIGHTSINC. My only guess to why Athens has not sheduled D1 schools is the lack of D1 shools in the area. I think Lancaster is the closest D1 school without having to go closer to Columbus/Pickerington or the Cincy and Cleveland areas. Other than that I am not sure why they would not schedule up two divisions.

Week 8 and still wearing shorts ... The weather here in A-town seems fairly good ... A bit windy, but tonights game should be played in pretty good weather considering its mid-October.
Good luck to both teams.

Athens has done an excellent job at building a program for having a freshmen, JV and Varsity squad. I love how much flack Athens takes on here because of they are winning. Yet, we here nothing about Vinton County, another DIII school with the same amount of boys to pull from, but because they have struggled not a word.
Athens played Parkersburg-South last year at Peden Stadium and won. That would be a good team to try and build a yearly game with for Athens in my opinion.
Now to focus on the Actual Game to be played...
I like Athens in this one because of their tenacious D.
Alexander -- 6
Athens -- 40 Final

Athens goes 3-and-out on their first series. Alexander runs 2 plays and fumbles inside their own 30. Bulldogs ball.

Both teams suffered injuries to key players this evening. Alex lost Trey Bennett in the second qtr. while Athens lost Chris Russell and Seth Stalder. Hopefully all will be healthy for the final two games.
