Week 5: Chesapeake at West
Re: Week 5: Chesapeake at West
Pretty sure your coaching staff has thought about all these things and way more. Think you staff is well aware of what to do and what they have to work with.
Re: Week 5: Chesapeake at West
I saw two passes that I remember. One was a dropped ball and the other was an interception. They won the game by running the ball. If you can win by running the ball up the middle, you obviously have a heck of a team. The three tailbacks they have have a lot of speed. Open the field up for them and they'll run over any defense.tl895 wrote:that's a joke right??Buckeye24 wrote:West is in desperate need of a passing game. They have some incredible athletes. If only they can get them to move the ball through the air, they will be a force to be reckoned with.
Re: Week 5: Chesapeake at West
West had 4 passes, 2 interceptions and two dropped. A win is a win is a win. One game at a time. One strategy at a time. I believe some of you would rather loose by 20 as long as your team passes for 151 yds. Is whinning a strategy too?
Re: Week 5: Chesapeake at West
What's gonna happen when they play Valley or Burg? Are they gonna run the ball all over them? What's gonna happen if that doesn't work?playa_44 wrote:West had 4 passes, 2 interceptions and two dropped. A win is a win is a win. One game at a time. One strategy at a time. You really do believe that, to, don't you? I'm not doubting West's RB's skill level. I know they have some talented kids back there, but don't you think you might be underestimating the athletes at the other SOC schools to make such bold predictions?Buckeye24 wrote:I saw two passes that I remember. Some West "supporters" are a dangerous thing.
One game at a time.

Re: Week 5: Chesapeake at West
I hate to say it, but just throwing the ball for the sake of throwing the ball against defenses like Burg, Valley, etc wont work. I'm sorry, but those teams are full of enough athletes in the secondary that will go man-to-man on the unproven West receivers, and blitz the untested West QB all night long. It will put even more pressure on the running game to produce, instead of opening the field up which is your desired goal. I understand you want the Siders to incorporate the pass into the offense more, but mid-season against the best teams on your schedule isn't the time to start. If its going to happen, it needs to be developed in the off-season, just like the other programs do. You can't just go away from what your kids do best in the middle of the season due to an unexpected slow start. West is still West, and they aren't going to be a pushover for ANYONE on this league. I think they are still more than capable of being a factor in the league.....as a running team.Buckeye24 wrote:What's gonna happen when they play Valley or Burg? Correct Jesco. But I have to disagree with one thing. The QB- Irwin kid, watching him against Chilli, yes he is young but is confident, has killer instinct and is good under pressure. He is mature for his years on the football field. He will be fine in SOC play throwing the ball.

That's definitely good news for West fans. Is he a sophomore?black76 wrote:Correct Jesco. But I have to disagree with one thing. Yeah Irwin is a sophomore, and a great kid too, on and off the field. Has a lot of humility and poise for doing things the right way.Jesco White wrote:That's definitely good news for West fans. That's great!! I really like the kid at QB for the 7th grade team. He's going to be a special player down the road. With Irwin being a talented kid and a quality kid, he'll be a tremendous mentor for that youngster should West decide to incorporate more of a passing balance into the offense.knowledge wrote:Yeah Irwin is a sophomore, and a great kid too, on and off the field. Yes the Irwin kid is legit, but IMO would benifit more out of spread or Pro style offense, which May never happen at West.black76 wrote:Correct Jesco. But I have to disagree with one thing. They haven't thrown the ball more than 10 times in a game I believe since Brian Howell.

Warrior, you b.... like a woman! Maybe you should try "supporting" your coaches and team OR send word to them that you can be a BIG help on the sideline on Friday, instead of being such a "warrior" on here. :122246 And get your facts straight while your at it!lol

Irwin is only going to get better, and I agree with the statement about the West 7th grade QB...has the chance to be a dandy!

They have 11 coaches already, don't think I would be much help. LoL
But I like the thought.
