Of the 4 members wanting to leave the MSAC (WV) back in February (Princeton, Nitro, Ripley, and Parkersburg), Ripley is the next team to leave the MSAC who is down to go 11 members from the 16 members it used to have before Beckley, Princeton, Nitro, Winfield, and now Ripley left. This could be Parkersburg's chance to leave the primarily I-64 league as well and either join the SEOAL or the OVAC/TRAC with in-town rival Parkersburg South. Parkersburg and Parkersburg South could also both leave their conferences and join the SEOAL with Marrieta (ECOL) and have 4 teams within 20 minutes of each other in a conference and would travel much less.
And sorry Gobigblacks and Raider, my mistake.

You won't see us and the two Parkersburg schools in the same league.
South has 1576
Parkersburg has 1798
They are not going to want to play a AA team.

Parkersburg isn't bad and been real good in the past and they are normally much better than SouthPoo Bear wrote:Are they strong football programs ?Gobigblacks wrote:You won't see us and the two Parkersburg schools in the same league.

If Parkersburg, South, Point, and Marietta are realistically looking at the SEOAL. I'm sure those schools would be in contact with Athens. Haven't heard anything but it would be a great all sports league if those schools joined

Would love to have Athens back home but we both know that will not happen for various reasons
Having said Thea the Seoal can make something happen without Athens
Re: Point Pleasant (WV) to the TVC or OVC?
The SEOAL should target Point Pleasant, Marietta, and Parkersburg South. Adding both the Parkersburg schools would be a mistake in my opinion. They are both larger than any area school including Logan. However, I do think the league should look at the smaller South which I believe would be the equivalent of a division 2 school in Ohio.
Logan
Jackson
Warren
Marietta
Parkersburg South, WV
Point Pleasant, WV
This would be a pretty good six team league, and one that I think could work. It would be kind of weird seeing Point Pleasant in the SEOAL without long time rival Gallia, but I also don't think Gallia belongs in the SEOAL anymore either. The numbers just aren't there for them these days. It wouldn't surprise me if they were competing as a division 5 football school in the next 3-5 years. I think Athens would be the one team that is missing. They probably wouldn't look the greatest playing in the TVC while there is a league full of their peers taking place right next door.

Re: Point Pleasant (WV) to the TVC or OVC?
This is why I think Ripley and Point Pleasant are the obvious next opportunity to keep the SEOAL afloat. According to the article, Ripley cannot join until 2018 but I think Point could join immediately. I think Warren is already starting to schedule Point in some sports. I do agree if Point and Ripley comes on in 2018, Marietta may be inclined to think about the SEOAL as well. I do think that Point is more of a long term potential whereas Ripley might only be there until they can get into a AA league. Just my opinion.GoBucks1047 wrote:http://m.jacksonnewspapers.com/article/ ... /151209935

Ripley is AAA. They can't go to a AA league. They have to play X amount of AAA teams to qualify for the playoffs.

How many teams AAA teams does a AAA have to play? I have no clue of the West Virginia rulesGobigblacks wrote:Ripley is AAA. They can't go to a AA league. They have to play X amount of AAA teams to qualify for the playoffs.

How often are the divisions reevaluated to determine who is A, AA, or AAA? When is the next time Gobigblacks?

Every four years. Won't be looked at again until 2019.
When we were deemed AAA they had 37 I believe schools and we were the smallest. This time, they moved 8 schools down to AA and only kept 29 in AAA. A real shakeup of how things were always down. We were going to be down no matter what though.

Re: Point Pleasant (WV) to the TVC or OVC?
Another question is now that Point Pleasant is AA, are they required to play five or six games against AA opponents or can it be both AA and AAA opponents?

If you are AA. games against AAA schools count as qualifying points games. Logan (WV) was AA for years but played up to AAA back when they won many state basketball championships. Either the TVC or OVC would be a good competitive fit for Point, but not for the conferences themselves. Maybe the SEOAL would accept them as a last ditch effort to stay alive, but given the shaky ground the SEOAL is on, that would not serve Point well into the future.

Exactly what is shaky about a league that has been around 90+ years with both Logan and Jackson being founding members and how long has Warren been there 20+ years or so already?Omega wrote: If you are AA. games against AAA schools count as qualifying points games. They were members last time Point joined, and are still there, nothing shaky about that, and it doesn't appear they are going anywhere anytime soon based on the latest news.
Point would be a good addition, especially if they could get one more like Marietta.
I personally like the idea of Point to the OVC along with Jackson and a division in football that includes Point-Gallia-Ironton-Portsmouth-Jackson. Probably won't happen but I still like the idea.

Is the number for boys/girls on the OHSAA site for 9-11 for each school?
