WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
Why do you think minford will be any better next year what little talent they have will be gone....!!!!!A-Bomb wrote:Here4Fun wrote:Yes Yates was out and he was the kicker and if he was in he would have ate minfords df alive just like in the 3rd quarter the year before when he scored 21 points on minford to almost win the game. He will get his chance this year I remember watching him on the sideline he was fully dressed pacing back and forth like a cage animal waiting to play but the docter did not release him that was the only reason minford went to the playoffs last year...!!!!
why dont u indian fans cry some more? in last years game yes yates didnt play BUT minfords QB butcher went down 2nd series with a concussion and without him minford offense was very limited....so i do not wanna hear it.....minford has beat valley 5 years in a row so when valley wins this year it will feel like your guys super bowl![]()

Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
This thread has me so confused I'm not sure who's playing who this week.
I think Wheelersburg is coming to Minford.
I'm expecting a great game friday night. All of us old guys can look ahead and throw barbs at each other and have fun, but I know one thing. The boys from Minford and the boys from Wheelersburg are thinking about one thing this week, and that's their game friday night, not next week or the week after.
Looks like rain early but clear for the game. Field will be wet but it shouldn't be a mud bath.
Let's Go Big Red!

Well said IRONFALCON. There's lots of talk going on about Valley and Minford on this thread. I'm hoping for a dry night and injury free.

Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
That's because Valley has a ton on newbee bandwagoners on board with their team's recent success (the second decent team they have had in the last 20 years best I can remember) and even their older regular posters are thumping their chests and even challenging other posters to "put on a jersey" etc. Bias fills the air these days in northern Soda County.samiam wrote:Well said IRONFALCON. All things being equal, Valley should win out but let's not forget that not long ago Valley was 5-0 at mid season and ended up 5-5 so anything is possible. They are just one dislocated shoulder from going 8-2 this year and no playoffs
.
A lucky break this week (like Shear's leg for example... and NO I'm not hoping for that, just making a hee-hee) and the Mighty Falcons can beat Burg.

Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
Only reason I brought up valley on this thread is because a valley guy downgraded this game by saying this game didn't matter and neither would make the playoffs
Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
Picking Burg in this game by 20 Burg is coming together after a rough game one and the Qb for burg is using all the players on the team to win.
Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
And I hate to say it but Burg would be 7-0 having played Minford's schedule so that seems to be a wash..Bleeding Red wrote: Minford would be 6-1 having played Burgs schedule.

Definitely!! I'll text you and the wifey and I will meet up with you guys before the game if you want. I think we are taking Dylan with us, so we can get him there early enough for pee wee night.crab_apple4 wrote:JescoI had to get special permission from my Dr to go to this one, as I am currently in the hospital recovering from a freak injury sustained Sunday night. But, since I'm getting discharged today, I'm going to be allowed to go to the game Friday night, crutches and all. In addition to what should be a solid game on the field, it's also pee-wee night in Minford, so there should be an even better crowd.
The significant other's little one is a pee wee(er) so I'll be at the game Friday night. Get ahold of me.

Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
Several of us still have a ton of respect for everyone in the SOC and those around us. Also, if you're going to point out others flaws, please at least show some respect yourself. This is not Valley's "second decent team in the last 20 years". How about we all work on that respect thing? And, it's not as if "chest thumping" due to new-found success isn't something familiar to some folks from Minford and every other community in our area. I've been around long enough to have seen it from most communities. Every team has their bandwagon jumpers, their fans who have no idea how to win or lose with class, and their fans who are loyal plus possess the ability to win and lose with class.wink wrote:That's because Valley has a ton on newbee bandwagoners on board with their team's recent success (the second decent team they have had in the last 20 years best I can remember) and even their older regular posters are thumping their chests and even challenging other posters to "put on a jersey" etc. Bias fills the air these days in northern Soda County.samiam wrote:Well said IRONFALCON. I'm not a bandwagon jumper. I'm a Valley alum. I've always been a fan of the SOC. I have children that attend and play pee wee sports in multiple school districts in the SOC. And, I have respect for every team in our league. So, all I ask is that we all try to show some respect.
Not trying to single you out wink. I was just using your post as a way to group my entire thought process together. No offense intended.

Talk about being a newbie....get real pal. First off the "put on a jersey" is an inside joke, and If YOU were around HERE long enough, you would know that. And you talk about Valley having only two good teams in the last 20 years is laughable. It also looks like you're hoping for teams left on your schedule to get hurt, but "saying its a he he" yet you make 2 references to high school KIDS getting injuries.
The fact of the matter is this: YOU are CHOOSING to come on a HIGH SCHOOL sports forum, where there ARE NO age restrictions(i.e. Here4fun), of course a few young kids from each school are gonna register and "thump thier chests"....come on now.
Minford has had Valleys number here lately, and in the last 3 seasons by a total of 11 points (one BAD call from being a win last year, as WE ALL KNOW) but thats all hogwash. I cant figure out why this season most people are talking about what has happened in the PAST
Good Luck to Minford and Wheelersburg and this "CHEST THUMPER" prays that both teams come out INJURY free.

Bleeding Red wrote:Wrong! Minford completely dominated Fairland in their scrimmage. That game wouldn't even be close. I am not going to even act like Minford would beat Ironton because they wouldn't. Minford would be 6-1 having played Burgs schedule. Anyone that says otherwise is talking out of their rear end.wobycat wrote:Minford would have lost to Fairland and Ironton, they may lose to Waverly. With no disrespect, I have watched Minford play and they have a few good pieces but also need some work. Burg will win by about 2 to 3 scores. Burg is not as good as in the past but better than what most are thinking.
As did the Burg, in a real game mind you.

Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
If Minford's DE's can play their assignments and contain Shears then I like Minford's chances(easier said than done). After watching some film on Burg I think Minford's line can win the trenches. It just comes down to execution and mistakes..2 of 3 Minford losses can be attributed to poor special teams play.
Here's to a great game for us fans and injury free as well!
and I hate to call you ignorant but Burg would lose to West if they played them week 6.wink wrote:And I hate to say it but Burg would be 7-0 having played Minford's schedule so that seems to be a wash..Bleeding Red wrote: Minford would be 6-1 having played Burgs schedule.

Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
Not sure that Burg would beat Wellston or Meigs either. Not sure they could handle them up front. I guess we will find out how strong that 6-1 record is tomorrow night. Burg may surprise me in a good way.......or a bad way. They are still Wheelersburg and even though I think 6 games they have played are "weak" to say the least, they may be very good. If they are, I will give them props. I know Shears is a heck of a football player. He wont beat Minford alone, but I know that he gets 3-4 kids involved and makes it hard for defenses to key on him.28Buck wrote:If Minford's DE's can play their assignments and contain Shears then I like Minford's chances(easier said than done). In a little under 21 hours we will find out!
Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
Ive always heard playing @ Meigs and winning is hard plus their coach was going for his 100th win. They were playing with a fire that night. Minford came out the first drive and drove 60 yards down the field for a score then went dead. As a Minford that was the worst Ive seen them play in 5 years.pmow3 wrote:I would be surprised if Minford beat Wheelersburg Friday night. But Minford has been hard to understand all season. The Meigs game still makes me scratch my head. But they seemed to have righted their ship. Burg just keeps improving and will be a tough out the rest of the way for all 3 teams they have. I still have to say Burg by 14+ in this one.... Good luck to both teams in an injury free game...

Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
Burg is up 7-6 at half. Howard connected on a long TD early in the 1st for Minford, PAT no good. Burg scores on a 3 yard run with a min left in the half. Both QBs have thrown a pick in the opposing endzone. Very close competitive game thus far.
