WK 5: Warren (2-2, 0-1) @ Zanesville (1-3, 0-1)
Warren is improving every week; Zanesville is always tough. This should be a great game. What does everyone think?

i heard zanesville has a good qb this year and has more of a pass game
if that is the case it could be hard for warren to stop

Zanesville seems to take a nap at times during games and it hurts them.
They should beable to pull this one.

If Warren keeps giving that 12 yard cushion, dropping three steps and then waiting till the ball is caught to do anything then Z-ville will have a feild day. Otherwise the defense has been playing great. Offense is getting better each week. Warren could very easily be 4-0 at this point. But alas this is not so. Penalties at the most inopportune time are killing the offense. Simple corrections, focus on game can all give a different outcome. Hope progress continues. Otherwise it could be a long bus ride home friday night.

I have seen the ZV roster and they are not as big as years past (only one player over 230). With the departure of Gaiters/Chambers they can't be as fast (man, they were FAST). I have heard they are operating out of the shotgun more than last year, but don't know that to be a fact. They do throw the ball (saw the stats for the Chilli game on the Zanesville TimesThey played with Chilli for most of 4 quarters, so they have to be good.
Warren is improving by leaps and bounds. They were about 2 inches from beating Marietta (TD catch waived out of bounds). If the Warriors continue to improve this week like they did last week, this will be a really good game. BTW, Wellspring and Hendrix are back. That will be a big boost!
Really looking forward to Friday's game. They can't just "knock on the door." Warren needs an SEOAL win.

If Zanesville plays four quarter like the first two with Chillicothe Warren is in for a long night------------but if Zanesville plays like the 2nd half- like they did against Chillicothe ,Warren has a great chance in getting the win.

Is Zanesville's passing game considered to be as good as Marietta's?
Re: WK 5: Warren (2-2, 0-1) @ Zanesville (1-3, 0-1)
I wouldn't say it was,but that is due to the two different offenses

Would love to see Warren win this one, and anything can happen. They are definitely improving though.

Warren is very capable of winning this game. The passing game of Zanesville would not be a factor in this game if Warren can run the ball and control the clock. Put them in situations they have to pass and it will be easier for Warrens D to handle. Good luck Warriors.

The Blue Devil 9th grade team visited us last night. The final score was Z-ville 21 Warren 0. If they are any indication, they played up tight to the line all 11 within 5 yards of the ball. Very quick and aggressive. Warren played a solid game but was beat on speed. Our offensive line could not handle the speed of the front of the Devils. They played well, and deserved the "W". Am in hopes that this is not the case tonight.

Re: WK 5: Warren (2-2, 0-1) @ Zanesville (1-3, 0-1)
Congrats to Zanesville, the poster above is correct. ZV tore up the Warriors last night with the passing game. Warren effectively stopped the ZV running game, but could not stop the pass. 14-3 score at halftime, the first ZV score was via the long pass, the second was after a Warren turnover left ZV with excellent field position (about the 30). There was no scoring in the second quarter. It was a hard fought first half and Warren actually out rushed ZV, but just couldn't convert at key points. ZV was passing well in the first half, but things got much, much easier for them in the second half after both Warren's starting corners did not take the field due to injury. Warren was already down one corner in the game because the starting corner Pettit broke his hand in practice during the week. The ZV QB picked the depleted Warren secondary apart in the second half. Warren doesn't have the depth to overcome losing the 3 top corners in the rotation. Warren ended up with an outside LB and a player playing in his first game of season at corner for the whole second half. All of the ZV scoring in the 3rd and early 4th quarters was via the pass. Zanesville's only "rushing" drive and all other scores were during "mop-up" against the Warren JV.
Here's the killer for Warren . . . they actually out gained Zanesville rushing the ball through the first 3 quarters. Warren stuffed the ZV run and ran the ball well. Wellsping is a great addition to the running game. Warren was inside the ZV 30 3-4 times and could not convert. I think ZV held Warren 3 different times on 4th down and short. FRUSTRATING. Warren passed the ball effectively, but did not really use the pass as a strategic weapon.
It was one of those games where you could see the progress that Warren is making, but it just did not show on the scoreboard. We have to get healthy and get ready for a tough Meigs team to arrive on Saturday.
I have to say, I hope we start to get a bit more creative. I think we are ready.
