Looking at the region, 4 out the top five in playoff points from last year (Martins Ferry, New Lexington, Union Local, and St. Clairsville) are gone. Add to that Bellaire, who used to win this region alot, is gone. Then teams like Portsmouth and Amanda Clearcreek are really coming off of bad years. Johnstown Monroe is a new addition and a good team. All-in-all, I would say this is a fairly easy region especially for one that used to be really tough and competitive.

Portsmouth West (I believe this is correct)
Fairland D4 Home
Portsmouth D4 Away
South Point D4 Home
Rock Hill D4 Away
Chesapeake D5 Home
Northwest D4 Away
Waverly D3 Home
Minford D5 Home
Valley D5 Away
Wheelersburg D5 Away

I believe West will win at least 8 games and get another home playoff game.

I did not know there were two River Valleys. This region has went from one of the hardest regions to win to a pretty soft region. Really from all these teams your only real teams that are consistently at the top of this region or previous regions are Ironton, Amanda Clearcreek, Portsmouth, Westfall, and West. If AC and Ports rebound from last year these might just be your top 5 in this region at the end of the year. I dont know a lot about Johnstown Monroe. Does anybody got any info on them?

Thankfully we are in the central region this year. The drive to Marion would be much easier than a drive to St Clairsville or bellaire, etc.

Johnstown Monroe schedule is listed toward the top with their last years schedule.

In 2007 (9-3)they finished 4th Reg 19 losing in the second round of the playoffs to Bishop Ready 14-34.

They have made the playoffs in 02, 06, 07, 08

They play in the Mid Buckeye League consisting of Johnstown Monroe (D4-15), Utica (D4-15), Fredericktown (D5-19), Danville (D6-23), East Knox (D4-15), Northridge (D5-19), Loudenville (D5-18), and Centerburg (D5-19).

Some Stats from 2008:

I believe Johnstown will be in the middle of another bond levy this year. I think they have failed 2 or 3 already. i dont know if sports will be effected or not by another failing, but I know they need new facilities at their school badly. Good Luck to that school district in passing your levy.

I would love to see a Johnstown Johnnie-Ironton Fighting Tiger playoff matchup. I know of at least one former ironton Fighting Tiger who would be on the fence in this matchup. What say you Butch-man??

A butch man is better than a butch woman in my opinion, but it would be much easier for a butch woman to sit on the fence, especially if it is straddled.

GO TIGERS!!!

Isn't a bond issue a levy to build a new school? The levy on the ballot I do not believe was a bond issue... Anyway the levy passed and sports are safe for now. Johnstown has a nice team coming back, but lose a lot of Seniors and will need some young players to step up.

looks like the schools on top of that list are 1/3 or more in enrollment over West. That is quite an advantage.
