Re: Ironton Football 2009
We Return alot of starters on both sides of the ball this year, we had great JV and Freshmen teams last year so we should have plenty of depth at most positions. It will be interesting to see who ends up as RB's with all the talent we have at that position. The QB position will be a toss up between Tommy Waginger and Ethan Preston, either way we'll have a really good QB. The line on both sides of the ball will be solid with several returning starters on both sides. Should be another great season for the Tigers.
My biggest concern is on Defense with stopping a passing team, seems that's been our biggest problem to date.

The key to the 2009 season is the same key as every season. Ironton must block and tackle better than the other team. if the fighting Tigers do that all 10 games, i like their chances at yet another playoff run.

Re: Ironton Football 2009
I would say the ultimate "run" would be winning it all ( 1979,1989 ). A very good "run" would be playing for it all, but not winning that final game (73,82,85,88,92,93,95,99), and being State Runner-up. But a good run would be playing at least 2 or 3 games in the post season. This is just my opinion.fuzzhead wrote:Define playoff "run" and I'll tell you if I agree or not.
Re: Ironton Football 2009
If a "run" is winning in the first round, then I'd say they could definitely do that.
Re: Ironton Football 2009
Ironton is the most successful program in Southeastern Ohio history,to think otherwise is nieve. Look for a 10-0 or 9-1 season, don't forget this is a 9 year and we know what that means..
WE ARE IRONTON.

Seen some mighty big boys running the track the other day, great to see so many of the lineman out running.

Re: Ironton Football 2009
85inside is right the Tigers must block and tackle much better than they have in the few season to be successful. If we can do that then the winning will take care of itself.

First day of coaching I think means on a field learning plays and getting instruction. Physical fitness is just what it says -- physical fitness. It has always been in July.
